5.0 out of 5 stars A fallen angel?

'The Guardian' paints a beautiful portrait of love and forgiveness, both the love of guardian angels for their charges and the love of God for all of his creations. Tabris is a guardian angel convicted of the ultimate crime, of breaking the only written rule of a guardian angel, the murder of their charge. The other celestials expect God's swift justice, but Tabris is...

1.0 out of 5 stars The suckiest book about Guardian Angels !
This is the suckiest book ever written about Guardian Angels. Hamilton so totally anthropomorphizes the angels to the point where the reader, instead of thinking *angels*, thinks Super Powered People and the angelic is lost. These are spiritual beings, for goodness sake! They can dance on the head of a pin! Why are you putting them in bodies with faceted ruby eyes and...

5.0 out of 5 stars A fallen angel?

This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
'The Guardian' paints a beautiful portrait of love and forgiveness, both the love of guardian angels for their charges and the love of God for all of his creations. Tabris is a guardian angel convicted of the ultimate crime, of breaking the only written rule of a guardian angel, the murder of their charge. The other celestials expect God's swift justice, but Tabris is given another chance, another child to guard alongside her given guardian.

The style of the writing grabs and rivets. Every word is filled with emotion, not a sentence is wasted, and details are only revealed when they will make the most impact on the reader. And they do impact...tremendously. The story runs far deeper than a simple crime or mistake. Every character is beautifully developed, especially the dark Tabris and the bright angel Rachmiel.

Anyone with the slightest interest in angels will instantly be drawn into the story. Be sure you have plenty of free time before you pick up the book because you won't be putting it down until the last page is turned.

5.0 out of 5 stars An touching tale of the heavenly realm of angels., December 9, 1998
This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
I found a copy of "The Guardian" in a used book store over a year ago, on rainy nights I read it to my then 17 year old daughter. The novel touched both our lives, it helped my daughter renew her path to God and it is on my bookshelf of my favorite all time books. The characters are so real and well thought out. This story left us both with a spritual hunger, seeking more of this style of writing. Jane Hamilton is the best of her genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully refreshing and "Human", July 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
This story I have re-read three times now, and each time I see another aspect of each of the charictors. Well thought out and written, it shows a side of a merciful God and Angels who have faults like all of us. There is hope for us yet!

My favorites are Tabris and Rachmiel. The relationship which builds is wonderful. ( I do like two other angels, but don't have their names in front of me. The first one who spoke on Tabris' behalf and the one who spared with him.)

I would recomend this book to all who are interested in feeling good after they have read it. I am now looking for a second copy for my library.

5.0 out of 5 stars An All-Time Favorite, July 31, 2005
By
This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
This book is one of my all-time favorites. I liked it so much I lent it out several times to friends and family, and have had to replace my copy twice.

This story brings to life a whole new dimension, in the style of Frank Peretti's spiritual realm, but with more warmth and love. The lesson is an important one- that you must let go of fear in order to truly love.

I highly recommend this one!

This book transcends its genre to touche something deaply human in all of us. It is an uplifting story of how G-d's love and mercy helps one angel to move through tragedy to life. I reccommend it to readers of any faith.

Jane's angels are witty, fun, and wonderful and her dialog and characterization are lively and thoroughly believable. Jane is a master of creating believable, enjoyable characters and bringing them to life.

By A Customer
This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
This book was wonderful, such absoulutely wonderful . It's easy to see why it is the only book of the author's to receive 5 stars so far. I would love to read more books of such inspirational topics. I would read the book again and have passed it on to three others. Get it and enjoy the reading you'll laugh and cry.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Angel's Redemption, October 8, 2011
This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
This was a fascinating read, taking an angel's point of view. The angel in question is on trial before God convicted for the most heinous crime a Guardian angel can commit. He is forgiven and given a new assignment. I read a lot and this novel stands out as unique. Although Jane Hamilton weaves Christianity into the story, it is integral to the plot. A great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read of Christian Fiction, August 25, 2006
This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
I have read this book three times, give away my copies and then want to read it again and have to buy it again (which I just did). I love this story. It tells of God's infinite love and forgiveness to every creature, large and small. I like Tabris because he knows that he has committed a terrible sin against God and feels totally unworthy of any type of second chance or forgiveness. He is like a warrior archangel, dramatic and intense in his love and his protectiveness. I also like that the other angels question why he is even given a second chance. It is a story you can believe happening.

1.0 out of 5 stars The suckiest book about Guardian Angels !, March 2, 2011

This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
This is the suckiest book ever written about Guardian Angels. Hamilton so totally anthropomorphizes the angels to the point where the reader, instead of thinking *angels*, thinks Super Powered People and the angelic is lost. These are spiritual beings, for goodness sake! They can dance on the head of a pin! Why are you putting them in bodies with faceted ruby eyes and bi-color wings? (girl, what on earth were you smoking or were you on acid????) The book is all holier than thou preachy with all kind of human foibles foisted on the angels, and limitations as well. I'm sure Hamilton thought this was a good book when she was writing it, but an English major does not a good writer make. I had hoped to be inspired instead of disgusted. This book is kindling. I bought the book used. Apparently the person who owned it before me only got as far as the dog-eared page 28 as the ensuing pages are pristine. Can you tell I hated this book?
