GUARDIAN OF TIME is the perfect sequel to DREAMS UNLEASHED. In DREAMS UNLEASHED the author set the foundation for the series to come. She vividly drew the background, slowly pulling me in, taking me captive to her story. There was action, there was intrigue, but I felt like I was just beginning to pull it all together when the cliff-hanger of an ending left me open mouthed. It left me hoping the sequel was soon to be released.

GUARDIAN OF TIME takes off where DREAMS UNLEASHED left me with jaws dropped. It's a fast-paced, action-packed adventure from the get go. Linda Hawley does an exquisite job of bringing together the mysteries presented in DREAMS UNLEASHED, expounding on them in GUARDIAN OF TIME, while continuing to introduce new elements of intrigue and mystery. The scenes are described in a manner that takes the most visually challenged right there in their mind's eye. The story line begins to take a more defined direction. Ann faces betrayal---and unexpected revelations from her past. There is no turning back. Her life is now intricately intertwined with the GOG, an anti-government subversive group. Her mission? Well, I think you ought to read to the book to find out! You won't regret it!

Where Dreams Unleashed set the tone for an action packed adventure, Guardian of Time does not disappoint. From the very first page I was caught up in the story. Not only does it pick up right where Dreams Unleashed left off, but it picks up the action from page one. I was hooked from the very beginning, unable to set it down. Literally, I carried my Kindle into the kitchen and read while I prepared my lunch and ate it. It was THAT GOOD. I read this book in one sitting.

The pacing is very fast, the dialogue crisp. Ms. Hawley also elaborates a little more on Ann's special abilities as she is sucked deeper into the web of rebellion against our controlling government. Convinced she will fight the good fight, Ann is soon swept away from America and into foreign countries in a whirlwind of travel and danger. Most important, Ann is ready. As her purpose comes to life, so do those of the immediate people around her. Shocked by betrayal on one hand and acts of intense loyalty on the other, Ann finds who she can trust in this story. But will they all give their lives to protect her and her amazing gifts? Will she be able to save the world? I guess that's what we'll learn in Book Three...

I went straight from reading Book One in this Trilogy to devouring this book, and I am chomping at the bit, wishing I could move as quickly into the third book. The Author left us at a major cliff-hanger, and the only light in the darkness is the assuring line that she ends her author note with, "this story is, as I believe all stories should be, about hope." That is a paraphrase as I don't have my kindle with me at the moment, but the gist of what she said stuck with me.

I love stories about psychic phenomenon, and that is originally what attracted me to these stories of a Woman whose dreams matter, on a current, world wide, political stage. Then there was the element which both frightens and gives me hope, the real, current events and the knowledge that we have rights and the responsibilities to fight to keep the rights our ancestor's died to give us.

I care about the character and I hate leaving her alone and not knowing where she will end up next. And she will make you care about having the right to care about yourself and humanity.

I love the two books Dreams Unleashed and Guardians of Time. Gripping action and suspense. Incredible characters and a unique story. Unsettling as so much of the story is "could be" modern day on privacy issues and what could be.....

Not wanting Guardians of Time to end as Book 3 is not out yet... Want more.... Linda Hawley is an exceptional writer. If you want a riveting tale of suspense, action and adventure read the series....

Kudos for excellent writing and keeping my attention....

Book Synopsis

It's the near future, and society is government controlled. Technology tracks everyone, personal privacy does not exist, and even food supplies are being monitored. The hope for freedom lies in the operations of an underground organization, GOG, which fights against worldwide oppression. Their most powerful weapon is Ann Torgeson, a paranormally-gifted operative, who unseals The Prophecies with her powers. With the government doggedly pursuing her, she goes underground, fleeing the Pacific Northwest, but not before leaving three murders, one suicide, and an explosion behind her. Will she and her companions survive to change the world after everything twists and turns upside down?

My Thoughts

Not only did Guardian of Time surpass book 1 Dreams Unleashed in terms of action and suspense but it also proved once again that good research, a very thrilling story and excellent characters are well worth waiting for. Ann has quite a few shocks to face in book 2, a betrayal that shocks her to her core and some revelations about past happenings that help explain what is going on in her present day life. Not only did I read as fast as possible but screamed in agony when the cliff hanger ending snuck up on me when I turned that last page. Linda Hawley has created a series that is going to turn certain peoples perspectives upside down when they read the first two books, a story that resonates with our current world and scares me to think just how much of it is really going on without us fully realizing it every day and most of all a series that allows readers to enjoy stepping out of their comfortable box of normal reading preferences for something that will challenge the imagination and at the same time entertain with every page you turn.

Guardian of Time by Linda Hawley is the second book in The Prophecies series. The story continues to follow Ann as she tries to discover the potential of her paranormal powers and seeks to improve the world. In the first book of the series you are introduced to the characters in a wonderfully in-depth way that makes them seem like old friends when you open up book 2. There are also several minor characters that become much larger parts of Ann's life as this story progresses. If I try to go into the plot I am almost guaranteed to include spoilers for this book and the first so I will refrain from doing so. I will say that getting to know Chow as a larger part of the story was very interesting and he is undeniably my favorite character of this book.

Linda continues to tell the story at a perfect pace. Keeping the information flowing as a part of the story so there are no hiccups in the middle of the chapters. Chapter heading continue to give a location and year to make the flashbacks easy to follow as well as being extremely informative. The biggest appeal of all is that the book takes place in the very near future with current day references making the story easy to visualize and seem frighteningly realistic. The end once again will leave you hanging, and personally I cannot wait for the thrilling conclusion to the series. Well done once again Linda.

A word to describe this book? Revealing. The first book was all mystery, and even though this sequel also has some mystery, it reveals a lot about quite a few characters. A few characters we met in the first book who seemed to play a small part are suddenly very important in Guardian of Time. Even Sinead (her home's computer) plays an important role.

What was cool about this novel was that it tied up quite a few loose ends left from Dreams Unleashed, so it left me feeling fulfilled, and yet it still had a nice cliff-hanger at the end, to keep my interest. I really loved the different characters in this book as well; everyone's personality is very unique. I was impressed by how the author made one of the bad guys so disturbing. I was seriously creeped out in that guy's main scene.

One of my favorite parts of Dreams Unleashed was all the CIA training scenes, and I was delighted to discover more of those in Guardian of Time. I just find those parts extremely interesting. You know how you read faster when you're really sucked into a book, because you want to read what's going to happen next as fast as possible? Well, that's how I am with those remote viewing scenes. But come to think of it, I was that way through most of this book. The whole thing was non-stop, whether it was a chase scene or a simple dialogue scene, since so much was verbally revealed in this book.

This novel added a whole new dimension to The Prophecies series. In fact, the reader finds out where the phrase "The Prophecies" actually comes from, and it's very interesting and very different. Linda Hawley has a great imagination, and she's awesome at putting it down on paper. I'm excited to read the third book!

The setting is in the year 2015, the not so distant future. As you sit back and sip your coffee and fan the pages, you'll soon become one of the characters in another action packed thriller by Ms. Hawley, this one is intense. I proclaimed it one of those reads that you just can't put down. Just when I thought I had the who-done-it, I was left scratching my head, running down a street, frantically reloading for whatever was waiting for me, trying to figure out what went wrong, who are the good guys and who isn't. I never knew what was coming at me next. You get so caught up in this thriller, you'll imagine yourself pulling the trigger and fighting the bad guys, while desperately trying to save your friend Chow. In the end, it was done. I turned off my kindle and returned to my everyday mundane life, eagerly awaiting the next Hawley mystery to slip into. DarrellSmithsr

The first book in the series is really a set up novel. The second book takes you more into the action and the illumination of many of the things that were hinted at in the first.

Ann is underground. Her life began to unravel in Washington State. Her situation was compromised. Word about her and her abilities was put into the hands of the wrong people. Her family and friends were put in precarious positions. One thread they all have in common is that they vowed to protect Ann at all costs.

Ann's paranormal abilities are growing. She is now able to use them in ways that she did not believe possible. As her abilities increased, the net around her begins to tighten. Those tightening it are her friends willing to protect her and her enemies trying to cut her off.

This book has some intense moments. Ann is learning who is friend and who is foe. I highly recommend the second book in the series, but to read it, you must read the first to grasp the intricate plot that Linda has created.

Once again, she leaves us on a cliffhanger. Dang! She has however guaranteed that I will be reading the next installment
