Book Description

The adventure continues! In a land no owl knew existed, Soren, Coryn, and the Guardians find danger, knowledge, and new allies.

Coryn and the Band have returned to the Great Ga'Hoole Tree and restored order. With the Ember safely hidden away, the tree shakes off its gaudy golden glow and recovers its natural majesty. Meanwhile, deep in the Palace of Mists, Bess finds an ancient map fragment that reveals that there are not 5 owl kingdoms -- as has been thought since time immemorial -- but 6. Coryn and the chaw of chaws set off to find this unknown land. In a landscape of perpetual winter, they discover a monastery of serene, learned owls, the likes of which no one has ever seen before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Good July 11, 2010
Format:Paperback
This series was one of my favorite series as a child. The books do have some violence, but it's not bad, and I would still recommend this book to everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars The River of Wind October 7, 2010
Format:Paperback
After the tumultuous time of the Golden Tree, life has started to settle down a bit for the band and Coryn...that is until Otulissa receives a letter from Bess at the Palace of Mists stating that she has discovered a sixth kingdom of owls. The band must investigate and they set off immediately on this next adventure. Will the owls welcome them? Will all be well back home without Coryn and the band to protect the tree? What about the few remaining members of the Pure Ones?

This book was one of the more exciting ones in the series, as both new, exotic owls and lands are introduced.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Worthy Distraction August 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have to admit, Guardians of Ga'Hoole is one of my absolute favorite series. This book was one of my favorite ones-- it was very interesting-- but I felt that it was not needed and the only purpose it really served was providing information on what happened to the hagsfiends and introducing the Striga. It was just a kind of bonus book to distract the reader from the Coryn vs. Nyra plot. But it isn't unneeded enough to skip. I would absolutely recommend this book to all GoG readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book - Good Price April 12, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
It is a good book and a good price and good quality. With the price of new books, many people could now own a lot of the books that they would like. Amazon and used books makes this possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Series for young readers!! March 7, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
We stumbled upon a bookstore going out of business (sad) and picked up most of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series of books, and turned to Amazon to fill in the gaps. There are 15 books in the series plus a Guide book.

My grandson is 9 years old and he loved the Guardians of Ga'Hoole movie. He was with me looking for some books to read for school - they are assigned to do private reading every day and track the minutes spent reading, which has really increased his skill and enjoyment - and when he spotted these books, they are on a very good close-out sale, so we bought all they had. But when I bought the fill-in books, Amazon was also having a sale on them, so we didn't break our budget too badly.

My grandson is currently on book two of this 15 book series, so has not yet read this one, book 13, but he is raving so much about book one and now book two that I have no trepidation in endorsing book 13. He said to me just yesterday how much better the books are than the movie (something I think is often true about adult books/movies).

His cousin, who is a couple years older is also reading this series of books and loves it as well, so clearly it has a good age appeal for young people. Having raised sons, I know that finding books young boys enjoy reading is more challenging than finding similar books for girls. I am so pleased to find these books that are igniting the love of reading in my grandson. But these books would be equally entertaining for girls, in my opinion, if the girl is not already too set on the path of thinking adventures are not their cup of tea!!

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this series March 2, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
My son fell in love with this series and of course it is a pleasure to see him read with so much passion. The only thing I don't like about this is that he disappears as soon as he gets it and I don't see him until he is done!

To make the reader interested
To make the reader feel like they're experiencing the event that is happening in the book
To explain clearly to the reader what is happening in the book
To give details
To end with a problem that is solved over the next book
To begin with a interesting statement to make the reader wonder what will happen
Your books do all of this! Your Guardians of Ga'Hoole and Wolves of the Beyond books truly are awesome!

More About the Author

Hi Readers! Thanks for coming by my author page. I've written all sorts of books - from fantasy about animals to books about science. One of my favorite animal fantasy series, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, is a major motion picture. I liked writing about Ga'Hoole so much that I decided to revisit that world in a different series, Wolves of the Beyond. I've recently added a new Guardians book: The Rise of A Legend, the story of Ezylryb, the great sage of the Ga'Hoole Tree. Another new book just came out, the first in the Horses of the Dawn series. I think of it as an equine retelling of the Spanish conquest of the New World. Visit my website, www.kathrynlasky.com for the latest news. All my best, Kathryn
