I typically like my watches to look traditional and classic, so when I happened to be at a Gucci store with my wife, I was surprised that this watch caught my eye. I tried it on and felt I really liked to look, heft and feel. Not liking to ever pay full retail price, I searched around the internet and found myself on Amazon, contemplating the purchase. Even at the discounted price of $880, this would be the most expensive watch I would ever purchase, so I gave it some thought... about 30 seconds to be exact. The watch arrived yesterday and I love it. The look of it is sleek and contemporary. No, it does not look like a Rolex, Tag, IWC or even a G-Shock... but you don't buy a watch like this to substitue for the former watches. You buy a watch like this purely for the subtle, stylish look. You can dress it up or down. Even the "GG" insignia all over the rubber strap is subtle and does not scream "look at me". The watch oozes sytle. That being said, the black is the ony color I would buy in this line since the other colors are too loud for my taste. The only downside I see is that there is no stopwatch function. All in all, I am very satisfied with the purchase and with Amazon!
Update 6/1/2012
I have owned this watch for over a year now. Around 5 months ago, I must have banged it up pretty well somewhere as the sapphire crystal cracked. Amazon proved to me why they have grown the way they have over the past 12 years: There top notch customer service. They offered me a full refund or to repair the watch via a third party, at their expense. I opted for the latter since I really like the watch. They paid the $285 to have it repaired. Since the repair, the watch has performed flawlessly and I have been compelled to write a great review about the watch, and the excellent customer service that Amazon.com provides it's purchasers. Regarding the watch: I still feel the same way about it, it is classy, I receive lots of compliments about it, and is as subtle as a watch with G's stamped all over the wrist straps can be.
