5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh from the Sea, November 29, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fleur De Sel Sea Salt From Guerande, Brittany France Purple burlap Bag 8 Oz (Misc.)
Opening up a bag of Fleur de Sel is always a wonderful experience. This bag of salt is especially fresh and the salt is still slightly moist and has a fresh from the sea scent. The burlap bag is a nice touch and the salt comes in a little plastic bag inside.

Fleur de Sel gives more intensity to salad dressings and is the moist, caviar of salt that is hand raked and mailed to you for your enhanced enjoyment of life itself.

I've used this salt in so often, I've lost track. It is just one of the best ingredients you will find to instantly take your dishes up a notch. You can use it in on meats and vegetables or blended into unsalted butter with fresh rosemary.

I have been told I'm not supposed to be using this salt in any of my cooking, but to use it as a finishing salt. I will agree it is best when sprinkled on food just before serving. Especially on steaks or freshly steamed vegetables. I've found one chef who promotes this salt in cooking and baking and I have to agree. This salt can be substituted for any regular table salt and the results are impressive.

To use this salt, you may want to invest in a salt grinder or use a mortar and pestle to grind the salt to a finer texture.

Normal table salt will pale in comparison and almost has a chemical aftertaste in comparison to this highly prized salt. French chefs have known this secret forever and when I found this salt, I told everyone I knew about the flavor.

Want to taste the best caramels ever? Look for Fleur de Sel Caramels. They will not last long.

this is the stuff they used at villa mahana, in bora bora, when we went for our all-out dinner. we were so blown away with everything they brought out to the table, that we took pictures of every dish.
thankfully, there was a canister of this wonderful fleur de sel on the table, otherwise we wouldn't have remembered which brand, or even to get the fleur de sel from guerande. makes a very nice gift for foodie friends. and no more american salt in our pantry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Salt, August 27, 2009
This review is from: Fleur De Sel Sea Salt From Guerande, Brittany France Purple burlap Bag 8 Oz (Misc.)
I forget where I originally heard about this salt, but it is great. I too use it as a finisher and one of my favorite things for this salt is edamame. Cook the edamame according to instructions and sprinkle this salt on the edamame while still wet. The salt is not salty like table salt.
