"Osorno mixes reportage with personal assessent in presenting both the history and the personality of what has become Mexico's most dangerous drug organization. He relies heavily on personal experiences and interviews with victims, police, fellow journalists in prose that's occasionally quirky but precise in its details and passionate in its unveiling of events that politicians and entrepreneurs have actively tried to repress.
