Great practice for putting together a question and understanding the answer. This game is great listening and speaking Spanish. The verbs ser, estar, llevar, and tener are easy to put into use. Also descriptor words, i.e. rubio/a, moreno/a, lleva lentes?, es mujer/hombre? etc, are excellent. All students, 12 years old and up, loved playing!

Guess Who? Game (Spanish Version)
I teach high school Spanish. I use this game (among others) with my students on periodic "game days." High schoolers LOVE to play games, especially ones that look like "kid games." This is a super game for reinforcing descriptive vocabulary. For example, "¿Está llevando un sombrero?" ("Is he/she wearing a hat?") My students LOVE this game! I'm buying more of these games, so more people can play it at the same time.

Young children have no problem learning to use some simple Spanish phrases describing the characters on the cards. And they get to use the same phases often enough it starts to seem natural.

This game can be used for fun and educational purposes alike. It uses deductive reasoning and, if you teach Spanish, it is a great way to add some creativity to a lesson. There are a lot of "editions" to this game. Other reviewers have commented that you may as well buy the "English" version - but I did my research before purchasing and found that the Spanish version does actually have Spanish names. That was my tipping point. I like that students are practicing their pronunciation of some traditional Latino names such as Luis, Ricardo, Jaime and Raquel.

The durability is a bit cheap and sometimes the plastic things stick a bit. That is the case for most things nowadays, though, and overall it will last if handled with care. There is 10-15 min worth of assembly for the first time use.

The middle schoolers LOVED it - and I felt good about reinforcing the concepts of eye color, hair color, gender, etc (¿Es mujer? ¿Es hombre?) For beginners (Spanish 1), I created a cheat-sheet with questions such as ¿Tiene el pelo _________ a tu persona? and ¿Tiene barba?

Overall a hit!

FYI There is a link to the Hasbro website that you can download and print out other characters for free - like monsters and sports

I bought this so that we could play it to practice our Spanish. We may have well as bought the English version because it is exactly the same except that the characters have Spanish names. We like it though - we change the rules to make it a little harder and to force each other to use different words, hence increasing our vocabulary.

4.0 out of 5 stars Same faces, different names., August 6, 2010

I bought the Spanish version of this game thinking that it would have new or different faces from the English version that you can buy in any Target, Wal-Mart or Goodwill across the US. I thought that because the picture of the game box posted in this listing is a *different box* than the standard game box. But, when the game arrived the box looked the same as the American game and had the exact same faces as the original Guess Who, only with Spanish names. So if you already have the English version, don't buy this one. Even if you don't, maybe save your money and pick up the English version on clearance or in a garage sale.

I can't fault the game itself; it's a fun game and it's great for any language class. But I wish the game manufacturers could've spent a little more time and come up with new characters for the Spanish version.

-----------------------
I should amend my review by saying that if funds are not a problem for you (Really? Teachers with unlimited money? Where do I apply?) then by all means go ahead and buy this version for use in your Spanish class. However, since I buy my own materials for my Spanish classes, and this game is so cheaply available in English, I feel that it would be more educationally valuable to buy 10 of these games for $2-$3 apiece (used) and have enough for the whole class to play, than ONE $25 - $30 version with Spanish names. The students can practice their pronunciation in a variety of ways besides the names on the cards. And, it is a nice challenge to encourage them to think of the Spanish equivalent to the English names.
