Absolutely Beautiful,

I heard the title song 'Guess Who I Saw Today'like fifteen years ago and remembered being totally blown away by the song-but then being a young twenty year old couldn't get myself to actually go and purchase a Nancy Wilson CD. How un-cool. But the song haunted me and recently I decided to give this CD a try...I'm SO glad I did. Nancy Wilson is a class act who has produced wonderful music. This is the CD to settle back with a nice glass of wine and let you mind flow with the music. This may have been my first Nancy Wilson CD but it certainly will not be my last.

A bit sad, but absolutely beautiful,

Nancy Wilson puts such emotion into this music it's almost as if she's been there, done that. She has other recordings of the title song, "Guess Who I Saw Today" but this is the one that pulls on your heart and makes you dread hearing the sadness of that last line. Nancy Wilson is a gem and you can feel her brilliance in this album.

WHERE ARE NANCY'S 70'S LP'S??? WAKE UP CAPITOL RECORDS!!!,

This review is from: Guess Who I Saw Today (Audio CD)
Any release from legendary Nancy Wilson is a five-star affair but do we really need more duplication of her sixties output when her most imaginative and inspired recordings were done for Capitol Records in the seventies...beginning with the still unreleased to CD masterpiece "Now I'm A Woman" produced by the legendary production team Gamble/Huff, it is incredible that all of the Nancy Wilson classic lp's from the seventies still remain unreleased in the Capitol vaults...what are they waiting for???? Luckily I have the incredible Import issue of 1974's masterful "Come Get To This" and have been playing this classic now for months and it never leaves my car changer...to think of all of the other great 70's lp's such as "Kaleidoscope" with the riveting "The Greatest Performance Of My Life", "I Know I Love Him" backed by none less than "The Jazz Crusaders" with Joe Sample on keyboards and full of magnificent vocals, the fantastic "All Is Fair In Love" lp another winner filled with classic Nancy performances, the very inspired "This Mother's Daughter" which is full of deeply soulful and riveting performances, "I've Never Been To Me" which is a masterful performance and THE definitive version, and the very soulful and wonderfully funky "Music On My Mind" which again finds this legendary singer at the top of her game and broken free from the confinds of a traditional jazz singer singing only old standards and songs...Nancy is far too progressive for this but misunderstood by her older audience as a result and this was their loss as these are her most expansive and finest recordings!!!!! Please Capitol Records...get with it!!!!
