5.0 out of 5 stars FREAKING HILARIOUS! I laughed SO HARD on this movie, January 14, 2008
This review is from: Guest House Paradiso (DVD)
This movie is A+ Fantastically Funny. If someone gave it a poor review, then I think their standards are way too high. My whole family loved this movie. But I'm still dying to BUY the damn thing. They don't have a U.S. Version available to buy. I would buy it right now if I saw it.

These two guys are the funniest human beings on the planet. If your new to Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmonson, you need to check them out. They make Mr. Bean look boring. These guys are OBNAXIOUS as hell. Full of sexual Innuendos that will make your ribs shatter with laughs.

Seriously! If you can't afford this film (This region 2 disc) Go buy BOTTOM- (Same guys from "The Young ONes"

Bottom is a 3 series disc plus has a big LIVE series. These shows are THE BEST BRITISH COMEDY You can buy. I will do another review on BOTTOM. IT RULES!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Just isnt in the Bottom tradition., July 28, 2006
By
This review is from: Guest House Paradiso (DVD)
I first saw this movie a few years back and it was my first introduction to Bottom... the series starring Rik Mayall (Drop Dead Fred) and Aidrian Edmondson who where best known for there charactors Rik and Vivian on the classic series The Young Ones.

After my first taste of them in this movie I thought it was pretty [...] actually! In the last few months I've become a fan of the TV series of Bottom after I rented the best of and snatched up series 1, 2 & 3 on DVD after that. I couldnt get enough of the series. I also checked out the live stage shows on DVD and they where OK but I still liked the TV series better.

So I figured now that I know what Bottom is all about I might check out the movie again and maybe it will be alot better this time around knowing who these two charactors are.

But nope, the movies still [...] It starts off kinda decent with Eddie waking up from a night of drinking on his motorbike and doing some odd things on the way home. But then it becomes a little stale as it leads into the middle of the movie and doesnt really pick up untill the last scene which couldve been alot better I thought.

The things I didnt like was the whole movie is filmed in this kind of dark way. I dont mean dark humor or story, i mean its in this dusty old dark hotel and everything just looks wrong for such a light yet hard hitting kind of comedy.

Secondly, its just not right seeing these two actualy working. They have been unemployed doll bludgers all through the series, but all of a sudden there working class.

Richard's name is now changed from Richard Richards to Richard Tw**t for one lousy little gag that wasnt funny.

It just doesnt have the traditional Bottom feel to it and quite frankly I think it shouldve been called Bollox for this one. If I'd seen the featurette on TV that is on this DVD before it came out i'd probably have thought this was going to be a masterpeice, but I guess thats what a featurette is supposed to do.

I skipped the gags and the game that comes with it, i'd have enough by that time.

This truely is the worst of the Bottem performences. It's not as funny, not as fun, not as clever, not as stupid... i'd recomend the TV series and then maybe the Live shows but this one, dont hold your breath... see it if you think you must, but you will be disapointed.
