Amazon.com Review

One of the most iconic publications in America, TV Guide magazine has been arriving weekly in homes since 1953. Over two million issues are in circulation as of 2011. In addition to television listings included in every issue, the magazine also features celebrity news, interviews, gossip, and film reviews.

TV Guide magazine was originally a regional publication, beginning in New York City. When the first national issue hit newsstands, the cover featured a true television icon, Lucille Ball, with her newborn son. In the last five decades, the magazine has continued to bring the biggest and best celebrity stories to the American people.

Currently owned and printed by United Video Satellite Group, this magazine continues successful circulation today. As the number of channels available to viewers in different markets has exploded in recent years, TV Guide magazine has evolved significantly. Today, the magazine remains a strong influence in the celebrity print medium as a reporting powerhouse, a point of reference, and a cultural norm, including common references on popular television shows and in films.

Celebrity news is a booming business, and TV Guide magazine has been there from the birth of the television age. A subscription to this periodical is more than just a television schedule mailed to your door each week. It provides an insider's access into film, television, and popular culture. TV Guide magazine remains one of the most popular weekly magazines in the country and would make a great purchase for yourself or a gift for nearly anyone in your life.

By pat
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal|Verified Purchase
Though it was a full T.V. guide, not Prime Time only. What if you want to know whats on at one in the afternoon or six P.M.? Could not care less what the stars are doing. Just want know whats on T.V. ALL the time.

1.0 out of 5 stars TV Guide screwed up June 16, 2011
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal
TV Guide used to have complete 24-hour-a-day listings, plus terrific articles about TV actors, trends, etc. Then they remodeled it completely, and now they just aren't about listings, and their articles aren't as good. Sure I can surf the channels on cable, but my provider doesn't list shows more than a few hours in advance, and surfing the web for schedule info is a big drag. I stopped reading TV Guide when they stopped doing complete listings and having great articles, even though it still arrived every week for months. I'd LOVE to go back to it. It used to be something you could pick up really cheaply at the supermarket, for fifteen cents. But I wouldn't mind paying if I was getting a real TV GUIDE.

1.0 out of 5 stars This magazine is a terrible joke! November 10, 2011

Subscription Term Name:1 year|Verified Purchase
I would never have bought this if I had seen it ahead of time.
It only shows listings for 3 hrs (in evening), yet it has page
after page of other material I'm not interested in.
It also seem hard to read the listings.

1.0 out of 5 stars very disappointed October 27, 2011
By marilyn
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal|Verified Purchase
I am not happy with the tv guide. There are no daytime entries......the time the programs are listed are from 8 pm.........the station channel #'s are not listed anywhere example CBS channel 2...... I have to use my daily newspaper to see what and when to see any programs.....I also refer to my tv channel selections which show only the next 3 hours or so. If I could get my money refunded, I would be very happy, because I find the tv guide useless.

This publication only gives the TV schedule for prime time only, four hours.
Certainly does not include many channels.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of money. February 25, 2012
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal|Verified Purchase
This is not your mother's TV Guide. No daytime or early evening listings. No channel 12. Many listings are wrong. A total waste of money. Will not renew. Better to look up programming on the internet. At least it's usually accurate.

I like the auto-renewal aspect. The easy to read layout and the critiques of soon to be broadcast shows that help my decisions on what to watch.
