Essential Guide for Michigan Waterfalls,

This review is from: A Guide to 199 Michigan Waterfalls, Revised Edition (Paperback)
I carry this book with me whenever I go into the U.P. I like to photograph the waterfalls of Michigan and this guide is constant travel companion. The book gives clear directions on how to get to each of the falls. The falls are broken down into the corresponding counties. Not only is this a unique guide it is a comprehensive guide to Michigan falls. The only minor enhancement that could be made to the book to make it even better is more photographs of the falls. However, the bit of mystery of what the falls will look also is a good motivation for exploring more and more. There are more to Michigan falls than Tahquamenon. I highly recommend Bond Falls. This book is the bible to exploring the falls.

I highly recommend this to anyone who's interested in waterfalls. The photography is very nice and the directions are clear and concise. My family and I visited twenty-four waterfalls so far this summer/fall in the Marquette area using this book.

Great Guide to Michigan Waterfalls,

This review is from: A Guide to 199 Michigan Waterfalls, Revised Edition (Paperback)
We recently took a vacation to the upper peninsula. On our way up there we stopped by a friends home who gave us the guide. We met the folks we were staying with in Munising, they said they loved to explore waterfalls, but were unable to find many just going on the directions from the locals. With this guide we were able to easily locate many falls, the directions are right on, down to the tenth of a mile. I would heartily recommend this guide to anyone wanting to explore Michigan's Waterfalls. We are buying this guide for our friends so that they can explore and know exactly where to find the falls.

I highly recommend this book! We have many visitors to the UP and this book is a great asset for day trips. It is so well organized, the maps of both the counties and the individual falls as well as the written directions are very clear. I know we'll be getting alot of use out of this book and I encourage you to buy it and see all the waterfalls for yourself!

In my completely biased opinion, Michigan's Upper Peninsula is one of the best places on earth. This book highlights one of the area's most beautiful features -- the abundance of waterfalls.
This is one of the best laid-out guidebooks I've seen. Moving across the region from east to west, it provides a brief history of each county and highlight points of interest. It then provides details on all the waterfalls in said county. There's also an entry for the lone waterfall located in Lower Michigan. While not ever waterfall is pictured, the written descriptions are both eloquent and informative. The directions are also relatively clear and easy to follow. I've used this book to find several falls and haven't gotten lost yet. The book is user friendly and thoroughly indexed. You can find waterfalls listed alphabetically by name or geographically by county. There's even a listing of falls that can be viewed without leaving your vehicle. To me, this is an indispensible reference for anyone visiting the U.P. New editions are released every couple years, so all information is reasonably current.

My family moved to Michigan's U.P. just before my 12th birthday. This opened up to me a wonderful new world of adventure in discovering waterfalls. In the process, this book became an invaluable resource for myself, and family and friends who joined me on waterfall discovery adventures. I couldn't recommend it more. The pictures are black and white, and not great, but that is not the important thing. Part of the adventure is the process of discovering something new. You won't be disappointed. And you'll come across many of the other beautiful places the U.P. has to offer in the process.

I have read the book, and we hope to utilize it this summer when we travel back to the U.P. Lots of directions to get to hard-to-find falls. Would love to see a companion map with all the falls labeled.

The book preview doesn't tell you that it ONLY has ONE waterfall in Michigan's Lower Pennisula, which is disappointing. Perhaps I should have known better. Alas, it is getting us motivated to travel North to gaze at the beauty in the Upper Pennisula where there are 198 more wonderful waterfalls. I had no idea there were so many there. The book seems very organized, more so than another waterfall book I have from another state. I can only comment on the location of where the waterfalls are with slight disappointment. Seems like it will be a good guide when we get to the UP.
