5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, February 9, 2009
This review is from: Guide to Advanced Software Testing (Hardcover)
Great book

A very detailed one. It covers all areas needed to learn for ISTQB exams (Test Analyst, Technical Test Analyst, Test Manager).
It is very well-structured and organized. The author made a great effort to make it concise yet very comprehensive.
The book is organized not only to cover all aspects of ISTQB Advanced and sometimes even more.
The book has a lot of valuable examples, especially in Chapter 4 and 5.
Drawings, tables and charts are excellent. The sentences are very clear.
It covers a lot more than other books for ISTQB exams.

In my opinion this is the most valuable book that will help you prepare for the ISTQB Advanced exams although beginners could find it helpful as well.

The contents:
Chapter 1. Basic Aspects of Software Testing
Chapter 2. Testing Processes
Chapter 3. Test Management
Chapter 4. Test techniques
Chapter 5. Testing of Software Characteristics

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for money, August 11, 2010

This review is from: Guide to Advanced Software Testing (Hardcover)
I have used this book as part of preparation for my ISTQB CTAL Test Manager exam. And guess what? I have passed.
Buying this book is definitely a good investment. You can read the whole book or just chapters needed for exam preparation and use it later as a quick guide. I often verify information using Guide to Advanced Software Testing when I write articles about testing.
Content of the book covers all the aspects of all three ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level certification modules and even more. You can find here practical tips. Pictures and tables in the book not only illustrate the information but also help to memorize and understand the material. What is quite important from preparation to exam point of view organization of chapters corresponds to chapters of ISTQB CTAL Syllabus and terms used here are in tune with ISTQB Glossary. That's really helpful for learning.

In my opinion this is the best book covering topics of ISTQB Advanced Level exams on the market. It's also a real guide that allows you to understand and implement testing techniques on any project.
