I buy and sell coins for fun and, hopefully, profit. I couldn't be anywhere near successful without this book. But, I didn't know that until I bought it in a local coin shop and saw a few mistakes I'd make --- along with some smart buys. Here's what I like about this book.

- It's spiral bound, which is great for a book you refer to often and need quick information
- The prices in the book seem extremely accurate. I checked PCGS prices/values of some items against the book and they're within $5 either way. That makes buying and selling scientific. (PCGS, of course, is not always the last word. But it's a good guide.)
- The paper is semi-slick and very nice for the great color photos on each page.
- There is information about each coin
- You quickly see how to grade each coin
- It includes a glossary
- It tells about numerous mint errors
- It gives auction prices
- Bullion coin prices
- Gives the mintage of the coins
- Is prices reasonably (you get your money back in one transaction.)

The prices you find in this book are "retail" prices --- the price you might expect to pay a coin dealer. They are not set in stone and they change with conditions. For the prices you might expect to be paid by a dealer for your coins, you'll want the Blue Book and for even more detailed "inside" information, you'll want The Grey Sheet newsletter. If you put these figures together, you more or less come up with accurate figures to buy and sell your coins. You won't want to pay the prices in this book if you hope to make a profit in the near future.

I'm sure that if you're a professional dealer, you have other resources that are better, different and more accurate. But for those of us who buy and sell and collect, this is a can't-be-without book. I have it in my hands as I search ebay or Amazon looking for a certain coin. That way I know the chance of me making a mistake is small and making a profit is quite large. I like those odds.
