3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting information but weak analysis, July 20, 2008
This review is from: Guide to Britain's Pagan Heritage (Paperback)
All in all, I thought this book was OK and contained a fair bit of interesting information and stories but I found the analysis fairly weak. On the positive side, the author avoids many of the problems that characterize some of the new-age material. The author discusses cases of human sacrifices and the like without being overly starry-eyed.

On the negative side, the book is clearly written with Wiccans in mind. One choice "observation" the author makes is that all Irish gods were patterned on In Dagda. This sort of thinking ignores well over half a century of research into Indo-European comparative mythology.

All in all, Wiccans will probably like this book a lot, and the rest of us will try to sift through to find stories of value.
