5.0 out of 5 stars Very thorough and helpful!, June 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: A Guide for Using Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the Classroom (Paperback)
I used this literature guide with my 6th grade English class. I found it to be a great help in really making the book a great joy for the students. The activities that were included in the book were easy to accomplish in one period and with basic materials.

A couple of my favorite activities from the book were "Create Your Own Golden Ticket" and "Writing a letter to a candy company" (Addresses for 5 different companies were given.) The kids wrote their letters and received some free things in the mail within a few weeks.

This book also comes with Chocoholic Recipes and Unit Tests. I found it to be a great companion for any teacher reading "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".

We homeschool, while this book is "for the classroom," just like it says in the title, it can be easily altered to work with one child, especially if Mom helps (which is the whole point of homeschooling, parent inter action!) (anyway!;) )
Beleive it or not I used this book with my 3 year old and he is really liking the activities. Of course He can't write yet so we do most everything orally (yeah, save on paper!) He did especially enjoied making his own Golden Ticket. A lot of the ideas are open ended and hands on creative, there are a lot of write on paper activities to use in a classroom setting too.
I am thinking of teaching with this book at our homeschool co-op the kids will have a blast with this activities and getting to eat chocolate!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Home School!, August 24, 2011
This review is from: A Guide for Using Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the Classroom (Paperback)
I loved this literature guide and will buy more (as I have done). As a home school parent I find using these units is a great tool in making sure my child understands what is being read and has fun activities to go along with what they are reading. They especially liked making their own golden ticket. My 4th grader found it a little challenging with the quiz questions but did beautifully and now enjoys the book even more. Don't know how they would work in a classroom setting but for one on one teaching this was a great addition to our reading curriculum.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Help, September 14, 2005
This review is from: A Guide for Using Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the Classroom (Paperback)
This is a great resource for a large classroom or a small homeschool. I love the activity to write to a "chocolate factory". I used this book in a private school that I taught at a few years ago and ordered it this year for my own homeschool.
