I just completed an unguided raft trip down the Grand Canyon using this book as "the guide". It was my first trip down the canyon and the info provided was accurate, concise and indispensable. It gave advice on how to handle each rapid, as well as geological and historical info for the canyon. The book was wet continuously for 16 days and survived in amazingly good condition. Couldn't be happier with the product :-)

very useful heads-up maps for locating your river position. good starter rapid descriptions, saving a lot of potential scouting. rapid descriptions are not much help over 18-20000 cfs. waterproof pages great idea. tie the book to your boat.

Camps, rapids, major features - From start to finish, this is the guide to have when planning and executing your private river trip. It will be (should be) at your fingertips at all times. Commercial passengers, even with little/no experience using river guides, should should be able to figure out where they are and what is coming up every inch of the way. Enjoy!
