This author purports to be an "objective summarizer." Nothing could be further from the truth. He is clearly pushing an anti-Islamic agenda throughout his entire "review" of the Qur'an. He (apparently) purposely misconstrues verses of the Qur'an, and-- despite his promise in the introduction that he is "adding no material of his own"-- invents very unorthodox and often laughable new interpretations of Islamic theology. If a person inquisitive about Islam were to read nothing and remain ignorant they would still be better off than reading this book. That is so because this book does not provide information-- only misinformation! All in all, it is a disgusting attempt to malign (in almost all respects, since he even provides an arguably more ludicrous analysis of the literary merit of the Qur'an than his exegetical take) a literary, philisophical, religious, and in many other feilds of human practice, masterpeice.

Now, the entire time I read this inane book, I couldn't help but wonder, who in the world is this "Faruq Sherif"? There is absolutely nothing to be found about him on the internet, and, from what research I've done, it seems the only book he's written is this terrible one! Not only is no biographical information available on this Sherif fellow, but there is no, Ph.D., or any university affiliation following his name. That is a mite troublesome. What qualifications does this man have to make islamic interpretations or even a review of the entirety of the Qur'an? Is he a western scholar? Perhaps he has studied in Qum, Iran? At Al-Azhar? Where? Who are you Faruq Sherif, and why is there no information about you anywhere?? The most I know about you is that you probably have a wife, since,"without her this book wouldn't have been possible"!

If you're new to Islam, quickly put this book down, (preferably, put it down in a trash chute or a pit of fire, which ever is most available) and find a reputable book that is written by a person who claims to be a Muslim and is knowledgable about Islam, so you can get an idea of what Muslims actually believe-- i.e. Islam.

This book is all you would like when you want to know the contents of the Holy Kora'an.

Call a it along summary but this book will guide you to whatever the Kora'an has...

Really good reading though.
