The content of this textbook is solid and easy to understand. It's a good intro to crisis intervention.

However, it seems like virtually every page has at least one typo or error. This is so distracting and unprofessional - if a publisher is going to charge this much, the book ought to be pretty flawless in my opinion. On page 103 for example, there are three mistakes.

1. "Family counseling is an effective style for Latinso..." (should be "Latinos")

2. "...and act out through joing gangs..." (should be "joining")

3. "This expression of affect(emotion)may allow them..." (no space on either side of the parenthesis)

I can and do ignore the occasional typo in textbooks all the time, but this book goes well beyond the occasional and has become extremely annoying. I'm finding it difficult now to concentrate on the information because I'm constantly waiting for the next typo. Whoever edited this should be fired. Grrrrrrr.

I have been in the field for twenty years. Asked to teach a course to students at a nearby university, I ordered this book!

I find that it is very readable and interesting and very much like the work I have been doing for the last two decades! Students will learn first hand information of what makes up crisis work, and become familiar with the many facets of crisis work. Down to earth writing and very real case scenarios! Excellent resource!

I am over half way done with this book and can barely put it down. It starts out by talking about what is considered a crisis and when crisis is a danger. I feel like the book covers a lot of different areas of crisis which will be helpful in the counseling field.( Loss, AIDS/ HIV, Substance Abuse, PTSD, etc.) The ABC's of crisis is also introduced in the book which is a very helpful model. I am not done with this book yet but I have a feeling that I will be using it a lot.

This book covers the basics of crisis intervention and offers a broad intro to counseling/psychotherapy. It gives very useful info on family, cultural, medical, substance abuse, and other issues. Its focus is on developing the therapeutic relationship, understanding the crisis, reframing to look for whatever good can come from it, and enhancing coping and functioning.

This a great book for any student in the counseling field or for people who work with people who are in crisis. Kanel's book is very readable and provides an excellent framework for helping during a crisis. She provides excellent case examples (what to say and what not to say) and her ABC model for crisis intervention is a great model to assess and address crisis states in people.

The service received from Amazon was very reliable. The book purchased was much cheaper than the book offered at the book store. This was the first time I used this service; I will be happy to use them again.

This is an excellent book . I would highly reccommend this book to anyone wanting to understand counseling others. This is a college textbook, however it is very easy to ubderstand. It is reaslly interesting reading even if you are not a college student. The services from amazon.com are great. I was able to purchase this book new from them at a lower price than it was offered at college. Also the college was out of the book but amazon.com had it and i was able to get it in a couple of days.The book title is Crisis Intervention

It was a great and easy process at my schools bookstore I would have paid almost double. It was on great condition I would say new and it came fairly quickly about 8 to 10 days not too bad. Would definitely do business with the company anytime.
