Editorial Reviews

Review

Reviews for Ogintz's previous books:

From The New York Times:
Families of children who enjoy reading may find what they need in...guidebooks by Eileen Ogintz.... The tone of voice, so hard to get right, is on target.

From Parenting:
Eileen Ogintz's travel-guide series Taking the Kids has a cure for backseat critics who complain about boring family vacations....Parents can read aloud from one of the guides while mapping out travel routes, or let confident young readers study it on their own.

From USA Today:
Ogintz wants to tell kids that traveling with their parents can be fun...

4.0 out of 5 stars Alaska with kids August 2, 2005
By Mom
Format:Paperback
This book is mostly for teenage kids traveling by cruise to Alaska; however it gives adults quick and easy info as well. It covers all you can do in Alaska. It is simple to read and understand and very informative. It offers many ideas and tips to be prepare. It has fun activities at the end of the chapters and many web sites to get more info or resources. It ends with a chapter about Vancouver and Seattle and a mini diary for the kids to record their adventure. I used it to prepare my 4 and 6 years old children while on the trip. We all learned a lot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Getting prepared for a cruise May 6, 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Grandma, will we hit an iceberg? What about the pirates? These have been the questions that I have to field preparing for a cruisetour with my grandson to Alaska in June/July. Although the children who reviewed cruises did not answer these questions, their knowledge and enthusiasm has convinced the grandson that maybe Grandma knows how to have a good time adventure.

Tips on clothes, eating, shore trips have helped us make our decisions ahead of time. The kids' view is not an adults', it is different.

We are taking 4 grandchildren to Akaska this summer. The book is a nice way to get them prepared. Parents will be reading it to them before we departed . It will ad to the excitement of the trip, and increased their knowledge of what we will be seeing.
