I felt that this book had a tendency to make very subjective, generalized, unsupported assumptions. I offer an example: in the chapter about Mexicans, it says something to the effect of: being overweight is viewed as a good quality in Mexican culture. Ok, we know that there does tend to be widespread obesity among Mexican populations, but how do you come to the conclusion that being overweight is a desirable state among Mexican people? I am a Mexican American and I have never known a single Mexican person who viewed being overweight as a coveted position. I would not advise taking this book as gospel truth. Exercise caution when referencing this book in the clinical setting.

I loved this little pocket book, I actually didn't sell it back. I has a lot of great information on different cultures, most of which I had forgotten. This should be a keeper for any nurse.

As always, I am pleased with my purchase from Amazon. I needed this book for a culture paper I had to write. I looked all over the internet to find specific cultural beliefs and customs for a specific country, but had little luck finding what I needed. This book had exactly what I needed. It is short and to the point, yet very specific. Great book!

This is a very informative book about cultural and its impact on nursing care. I had to buy this for a class, but I am definitely keeping it and referencing it in the future!

This book gives one insight into different cultures in many different areas. It's helpful if one encounters people of differnt origins and beliefs. What is acceptable with some may not be for others.
