5.0 out of 5 stars I have a very happy husband!
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He was really excited about it and said that he really liked it! The quality looked very good - we haven't used it yet, but I know he hopes to give it a try soon. :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Works well while they last
This product is an excellent idea ruined by poor materials. I bought two of these in June 2011. On one, the zipper has separated from the bag material. On the other, the zipper won't zip anymore. I did not over stuff the bags.

I wish these were made better as they were quite wonderful while they lasted. I had the 5 reel model. Transporting rod/reel combos...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for transporting multiple rods, February 28, 2011

I got this for my dad. Whenever we go on trips and take our fishing poles, they always get tangled up and caught on everything. This case is perfect because it keeps all of the rods separated so this wont happen. You can also put on your hooks or lures at home so you are ready to rock and roll when you get to your favorite fishing spot. The rod case length is adjustable with Velcro for different sized poles. The poles are separated on the inside with a fake sheep's wool padding. The only thing that I don't really like is how thin the nylon shell is. A heavier duty shell seems like it would be more durable and last longer, however, I haven't had any problems with tearing or anything yet. Overall a great case that makes life easier.

Transporting rod/reel combos was a breeze. I loved that I had the choice to leave them together (up to 8') or break them down and still leave the reel on (with the handle broken down).

Some better quality zippers and assembly would have made this a present I gave to all my fishing buddys. Unfortunately, I have to advise you to go with a better made product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect!, August 5, 2011

I used this for a week-long fishing trip to Canada. It protected the rods well and made the carrying of 5-rods much easier. The only way this would be better is to allow longer rods and have a hard nub on the end to protect the tips.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality, But You Get What You Pay For, December 29, 2010

This review is from: Guide Gear® 8' 5-Rod / Reel Case (Misc.)
I bought this case to store and carry some of my fishing rod and reel combos. At first impression, it is good quality well made product with separate deviders to protect each rod and reel from scratches and other damage. Then you begin to realize it is not even 8ft like the manufacturer claims, but close to 7ft 4in in length. It does not have enough room to fit larger freshwater baitcasting or spinning reels on rods I'm using. On other side, small low-profile baitcasting outfits will fit, but it is very dificult to slide these fragile rods into the case because of risk of brackage. After all of this I was able to fit two of my sturgeon combos, and it seem to work fine for that. But before the first trip with it, the stitching on the ziper became to fall apart and so some other parts. Due to the reasons listed, I would not recommend this product. I paid $25 for it plus shipping, but it was still waste of money. If you decide to get one, buy Guide Gear 3 rod/reel case. It has the same amount of reel padding as the 5 rod/reel version and seem to hold up better; besides, you only can use max of 2 or 3 combos without risking to brake thiner rods. If you willing to spend more money, you can get Precision Pak Cape Fishing Rod/Reel Storage Case online for about $55; that one is made to fit 4 combos up to 7ft(actually I can fit rods up to 7ft 3in), and it is a+++ quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great case for fishing, holds 5 rods safely, August 4, 2010
This review is from: Guide Gear® 8' 5-Rod / Reel Case (Misc.)
I have used the hard tubular rod cases in the past, and on the plus side they keep your rod from being broken if you have a delicate and expensive fly rod. If you travel by air you will need a This bag is soft and padded, and VERY AFFORDABLE. When I use a rigid tube, the frustrating part is that you have to take your reel off before using it. But this case allows you to put 5 fishing rods in one case, with tackle and with the reels attached in the bag. This means I can carry the bag right to shore or boat, open the bag and get to my fishing faster. For me that is a big issue, but everyone has different needs when choosing a case.

Each of the 5 compartments is separated from each other by a panel of artificial sheep wool. I love this feature as it is very gentle on my reels and rods so they do not scratch against each other. The bag has an expanding length feature with velcro so you can set the maximum length to your longest pole, the maximum size is for an 8 foot pole. None of mine are longer than 6 feet, and I kind of wish they made one at that length but for the price I am not complaining. I also store some of my rods at home in the case so that the rods and the reels do not get dusty. The exterior polyester fabric seems very sturdy for me so far, I bought this from the manufacturers catalog a couple of years ago, and the price here is very good. They also have one of these at Amazon that is for 3 rods.
