2 of 3 failed on second night,

This review is from: Guide Gear® 2' Self - inflating Mat Green (Misc.)
I bought three of these in February in preparation for a road trip of multiple camp-outs which ended up just happening now in August. they were for myself, my wife, and my five year old daughter. The first night these three mats earned a five star rating in my estimation. They were comfortable, they all snapped together making one large mat and they even looked nice.
On the second night, we heard a "Snap!" and my wife said "what was that?" I told her it was probably one of the snaps coming undone which connected our mats. A few minutes later another "Snap!". Before long we realized that both her mat and mine had popped. My daughter's mat remains to date in good shape, though she only weighs 42 pounds. We were in a tent and were using a ground cloth so there were no direct sharp points causing a rupture. It was simply our body weight (195 and 170 lbs) which caused the failures. Needless to say, we had one comfortable night and six very uncomfortable nights. One failure is bad. One failure on the second night of use is very bad. Two failures on the second night of use is more than bad, it is bad design. If you opt for this one, you had better bring a backup as sleeping on the ground is not pleasant, as I can tell you with better knowledge now, than before my experience with these nice looking but failure prone products.

Decent mat for short trips,

The mat is comfortable but self-inflating is a bit of a stretch. When you open the valve the mat will inflate slightly to relieve the pressure that is applied by rolling the air out. A few breaths will finish the job and the interior padding makes this mat better than others.

Poor design,

This does not inflate enough to be more comfortable than sleeping on the ground. Useless.

I have 2 self-inflating mats like this one... the first one did'nt make 2 trips and it busted around one of the seams in the middle. the other one has held up ok for the past year with moderate usage...

Nice Mat, Bad Pillow,

Sleeping on the mat was comfortable but the pillow gave me a stiff neck and sore back. Next time I plan to not to inflate the pillow.

The mat is quite large when rolled up (larger than my sleeping bag) and doesn't come with a stuff sack. Also the first time I used it, the mat went flat overnight. Thankfully there's some cushion in it without air, otherwise I wouldn't have slept at all. There may be a leak, but a repair kit wasn't provided either. I suggest finding another product with less bulk.

4 inches wider than most mats and relatively comfortable padding. It has a "pillow" which you have to blow up. The straps to hold it rolled up are not fixed on the mat but snap on and sometimes come off as you are snapping it closed. It has snaps on one side presumably to add another one to it side by side and get a full sized mat.
Overall, relatively good buy for $20.

It's not perfect but it does add a nice layer between the ground and your sleeping bag. Easy to use, easy to store away. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase.
