4.0 out of 5 stars Great bag, Great Price
If you want a double bag for cold weather camping this is it. It really is a double bag, not two singles zipped together like some others. The canvas cover is tough enough for any camping style. The only minor drawback is the carrying sack. It is made of the same tough canvas but it is just a little small for this heavy insulated bag, you can plan on quite a tussle to get...

The double sleeping bag is great....everything I expected. Getting it back in the bag is the hard part. But well worth the purchase.

The only minor drawback is the carrying sack. It is made of the same tough canvas but it is just a little small for this heavy insulated bag, you can plan on quite a tussle to get the bag stuffed back into the carry sack. If the sack was just a little bigger it would be perfect.

Would be better if there was a zipper on both sides so either, our, can easily get in or out.

Two things all buyers should know.

1. This thing is HUGE. Like 3 1/2 feet tall in it's carrying bag.
You'll not be carting this into the woods for a hike with the sweetie unless you bring a hand cart or something. It's a monster.

2. It's comfy as all get-out. It says "0 degree rating" but it's not stiflingly hot (I'm 190 lbs, wife is 118) for two normal sized adults. I guess if you're 270 or something it'll probably get swelteringly toasty.
We slept comfortably in 60 deg weather with it and didn't sweat a bucket. We've also slept in 25 degree weather and kept plenty warm.
It's more cocoonlike than you'd expect, keeping a moderate temperature instead of cooking or freezing you.
If it weren't for the size of this thing we'd be 100% pleased. It just weighs too much to cart around to more adventurous areas.

I purchased this bag here on Amazon in preparation for a camping trip with my boyfriend which we never took. I was disappointed that we didn't really get to try out the bag. But as fate would have it, I would find a use for it a month later when I caught the flu and was sick for three weeks. The sleeping bag was the only place I felt comfortable and warm. I stayed toasty in my cocoon! But that was only the first instance that I had occasion to use the bag in a crisis. Another month went by and my house's heating system broke down. For several complicated (and stupid) reasons, it could not be fixed for some time. We were experiencing record low-temperatures. Knowing the bag was my best hope, I broke it out again. The sleeping bag kept me warm no matter how cold it was outside. When I would venture out of the sleeping bag, I would return to find my cats curled up in it and on it, they knew it was the place to be. It was a great purchase, worth every penny, and believe me, it works. The flannel lining is so soft and comfortable, the canvas exterior is very durable and stain-resistant. The stitching is very good, no rips or ruptures, even with extended periods of use. I am so grateful that I didn't buy a dud, because I might have frozen to death or had to vacate my home for an extended period! There's plenty of room, but no sacrifice in terms of warmth. Great product, and great price!

This is a deliciously warm and strong sleeping bag. The only 2 problems are that there is only one side that is zippered and it is soooo big that is just won't fit back into it's stuff sack. Other than these fixable problems, it is the best for cold weathr camping. Have fun!

Great bag, plenty of room for one or two. I also got a fleece sleeping bag liner and have not had to use it to keep warm. It is definitely a car camping sleeping bag, not one you would want to carry on a pack. It is very warm and comfortable. To get it in it's carrying bag you have to fold in half and roll sideways, a couple of compression straps help too. I have plans for a February camping trip in the Mountains, I am looking forward to comfortable nights in this bag.

This is a great item, but as stated, the canvas bag that it comes in is not big enough. Once you get it out you will never get it back in...Not without get a few bloody knuckles and a lot of aggrivation. We used a military buffle bag to store the sleeping bag now. The only other down fall is that it only zips on one side. That can be hard for the person on the inside, they're going to have to crawl over the other person in the event they need a bathroom break in the middle of the night.

4.0 out of 5 stars GUIDE GEAR ELK 0 DEGREE DBL CANVIS SLEEPING BAG, May 3, 2009

I bought this sleeping bag to use in our motorcycle camping trailer. The bag fits perfect in our 54 inch wide camping trailer. I find the bag warm and comfortable. What I found out about this double sleeping bag I don't like is that the single zipper keeps un zipping unless you zip the bag clear to your neck and use the small square of velcro at the top which my wife hates as she feels trapped in the bag. What I ended up doing is sewing a 8 inch strip of velcro on the inside edge of the sleeping bag and adding a velcro pull to the zipper pull to stop the zipper at any location that's more comfortable. Also the canvis bag is to small for the sleeping bag. The sleeping bag is hard to get out of the canvis sack and almost impossible to get back into the sack. IT took me sevetal times of rerolling the sleeping bag and lots of tugging to get the sleeping bag back into the canvis sack. BE VERY SURE THAT THIS SLEEPING BAG WILL WORK FOR YOU AS IF YOU WANT TO RETURN THIS SLEEPING BAG YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR RETURN POSTAGE AND IT'S NOT CHEEP. I like the sleeping a lot better now since I added the velcro and will use it motorcycle camping all the time.
