Hey
I just turned 61 and cant do much of what I could do 30 years ago....I still love to hunt mostly by myself....killed a large Doe about 170lbs...it took me 3 hours and almost 2 heart attacks trying to load it into my PU truck,,,sheeesssseee....I figured there had to be a better way...started looking at com a long winches...figured with a sheet of plywood this would work...than I came across this swivel lift...didnt realy know how good it would work but the price was right so I would give it a try....This dang thing is slicker than sliced bread...took about 30 mins to put it togther..at an old guys pace...lol
put it in the back of my truck...feeling I was ready now to hunt by myself...Well today I killed a nice heavy 10 pointer close to 200lbs...found him in the field backed up to him...five mins later lift was in the hitch....cut both legs at the tarsel glands and hooked the gimble to them ...one handed cranked him up to the top swiveled him around sat his head up on the tailgait and let him down in truck...closed tailgate put the lift in truck and was headed to the procesor in under 15 min.No strained back worked perfect...So if your old like me and hunt by yourself you need one of these...save the pain for someone else...once I get another to the processor...I will try it for gutting and skinning so I can make some jerky and have some hams for the Brinkman smoker...It has a little spring snap on the bottom that keeps it from swiveling for this purpose...I dont think it would bend pretty heavy tubing thats its made of...will update than....

Have only used it once so far with a fairly large deer for my geographic region (approx. 200 lbs). Overall system worked OK for loading the deer in my truck but not sure how sturdy it would be to actually to clean a deer with the extra pulling/force needed to skin the animal. A possible solution is to provide extra strapping that could be used to support the top portion with the tie downs in a truck. If not supported in some way, I believe there is a possibility of bending the receiver section if much force was exerted during the skinning operation.

Would have also liked the height to be a little more but understand the limitations with overall length and keeping it to where it will store in the back of a standard pickup. I have a Toyota Tundra but also tried it on smaller truck and it was lower than what I wanted to work with.

All said, good concept and price. It beats gutting a deer lying on the ground.

I want to thank Amazon.com, I called Sportsman Guide only to be told that they were sold out of the item "Guide Gear Deluxe 360 degree Swivel Lift System. I was upset because I had only gotten their catalog that day to be told that all of the item I wanted was gone. Well I searched areound on the internet and for me that was quite a bit of work. But anyway I finally went to Amazon.com and found the item being supplied to them by Sportsman Guide and was relieved to find that they had it in stock. And for the same cost. The item has performed to our needs and my husband is very happy to have it. It is making this years hunting season a whole lot easier to deal with. Once again I thank Amazon.com for their help and the item is worth every penny that we spent.

For its price, it is an interesting gadget. But it is not as portable as advertised. It came with a diagram, but no assembly instructions. Generally simple enough to figure out, but manufacturer's instructions seem to be an essential missing component. All bolts are metric, so standard wrenches need not apply. Once assembled, it is very difficult to disassemble into component pieces to allow compact storage or moving. Winch assembly pretty much restricts undoing the two tower pieces, and the "thrust bearing" assembly similarly restricts removal from the hitch assembly. As is, it must be left pretty much fully assembled, and thus is heavy and awkward to maneuver into hitch by one person. If these components easily disassembled for compact storage/transport, the entire product would be much improved. As it is, to get heavy loads into the bed of a pick-up truck, it seems a worthwhile, if limited buy.

I was disappointed in the item which I purchased primarily to load animals into the bed of a truck when I hunt alone. I probably will not send it back b/c it has been assembled and the box was destroyed on delivery. I will not order from this manufacturer again. It is clear that if you saw this on display "in a store" you would walk away from it. Purchasing it mail order then assemblying it makes returning it almost more trouble than it is worth.

The hoist is made in two primary upright parts. These two uprights assemble at the midpoint, just above the winch, with a single bolt and nut. The upper portion slides several inches into the lower unit. Once assembled, it does not break down for transport unless you remove the bolt each time. It will transport easily in an 8 foot truck bed but it will not fit easily in my extended cab nor would it fit in a short bed or in any small or mid-sized truck. It will not break down for use on a UTV and I would not attempt it on my ATV at all (due to the problem mentioned below as well as the lack of a weight supporting foot.)

The upper square tube portion (from just above the winch to the upper pulley) of the unit does not fit well with the lower portion where the two are bolted together. Even once bolted together there is substantial movement in an item that is sold as a game hoist for animals up to 300lbs. It is clear that the two pieces of square tubing are not properly sized or fitted together and this is design mistake not a manufacturing mistake. There is probably at least a 1/4 inch gap on all sides where the two square tubes slide together which results in the top portion having quite a bit of flex. That gap is unreasonable and may be dangerous.
