We bought this tent as a privacy tent for the portable toilet. Incredibly easy to put up. However, it's not very stable and when the wind blew it would lay down. We had rope and tied off to another object and solved that problem. The anchors that come with the tent are the usual cheap kinds. They bent when we tried to put into hard ground. I would definitely suggest you buy the heavy duty anchors - need 4 of them. So far as quality, the seams at the anchors, separated a little and frayed. It was occasionally windy and there was a bit of movement before we tied it down. I was a little disappointed that it showed that kind of wear after one use. Once it's secured, it's perfect. Plenty of head room and room to change even with the toilet in there. I had practiced packing up in my living room - I carefully watched how it unfolded when I first opened it and then recreated easily. "In the field", it was a little harder but eventually we got it back in the carrying bag. For the money, not bad, incredibly easy to assemble but probably not the most durable in the long run. For our purposes, it works perfectly.

This shelter is really easy to set up and comes with a great carry pouch. However, the instructions are really poorly written with difficult to see pictures and folding it up to put it back in the bag took a long time to figure out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy!, June 15, 2008

This is a great buy! I purchased two for my Youth Group to go to Creation Festival, one for boys to shower and change in and one for girls. I am so pleased with them. They are larger than I expected and have plenty of room to shower and change without being cramped. They are durable and easy to pop-up and take down. They take up little room to store and travel. I'm glad I purchased two right away. Hope this helps.

The tent "popped" up right out of the bag no problem but that's when the problems started. The stakes are thin aluminum, I hit one with the back of my hatchet and it promptly formed an upside down U shape. I'm a short asian female with no perceptible upper body strength and the ground was fairly soft btw. I tried to straighten it on a rock and after diligent effort accomplished a wavy ribbon shape. I did get it to go into the ground finally and secured the other 3 corners, gingerly, with the remaining 3 fragile stakes...for all the good it did me. The tent collapsed to the ground at every opportunity and slight breeze. It did it so much it became a source of comic relief in the campground. Needless to say I did not dare take a shower in it as I didn't want to be exposed or knocked to the ground during one of its descents. I'm returning it forthwith and cannot recommend, except of course for comic relief. It's outstanding for that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love It!, July 10, 2009

We love this product and have used it a lot...but in an unintended way. We have several dancers in our family and endure long days and weekends of competitions and performances. I bought this pop-up to take with us to allow privacy for costume changes, cat naps and quiet spots for doing homework. It is big enough to accommodate all of that and yet lightweight and small enough to carry it with us. It sets up and comes down easily. It folds up to the size of an extra-large pizza but weighs next to nothing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shelter and Solar Shower Review, May 2, 2009
This review is from: Guide Gear Pop-up Shelter with Solar Shower Green (Misc.)
Took this with me on a camping trip recently. The shelter does set up very easily but it will fall down very easily in even a light wind. If you are inside when it tips over, you will have to fight to keep it standing and you may be a little embarrassed. The stakes are made of flimsy metal which are flat on the ends that will be hammered into the ground. They will bend even and become virtually unusable with even the slightest use of a hammer. Also, they are only useful if the ground is soft dirt so I recommend some large heavy duty plastic or metal stakes. The ones with spiked ends and the small hooks which protrude out at the top so you can hook the fabric firmly on to them are best. You may also want to put holes at the top of the shelter and tie off lines down to the ground or to a tree to help keep it stable. The shower bag heats water almost as hot advertised but you will definitely need to have something like a tall post or tree branch to hang it from. Not really sure how long it will stay up. The plastic doesn't seem that strong and because I didn't read the reviews carefully, I was woefully unprepared so I held it up by hand. That was easy because the bag wasn't completely filled but it may be a little difficult and awkward for most people. When the water bag is completely filled, it will weigh a lot so the plastic could rip and send the bag crashing down on you or spill the water everywhere. May want to reinforce the bag handle grip with some tape, etc., or put the bag on some kind of perch which can support its weight but not restrict the water flow. It is a little hard getting it back into the case and the instructions aren't that great but after you master it the first time, it should be a breeze. Overall, not a bad product but you need to do some tweaking for it to be truly useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars pop up shelter, April 4, 2009

I think this pop up is going to do the trick for us. My wife is handicap and cannot make it to the out house at the family camp in Maine. She found a unique camp toilet but needed some privacy, she found this shower pop up and now we have it. A private space, plus a shower if ever needed. The family already has a shower but the more we stay up there when I retire the easier for my wife and I to enjoy the lake and it's surroundings. This product will be a blessing. 4.0 out of 5 stars very nice addition to the camp site, August 11, 2009
This review is from: Guide Gear Pop-up Shelter with Solar Shower Green (Misc.)
This is one of the best additions to my camping gear arsenal. I tent camp via a car or boating to an island and I only care to set up one tent per trip. The way this thing just pops out is great. It takes 5 seconds to erect...then about 1.5 minutes to hammer in 4 stakes. I think a lot of people are over reacting to how you fold this thing back. I love how light and compact it is for storing.

I use this with one of the battery operated shower head / pumps that I bought on Amazon. I do not use the solar bag that came with the pop up shelter. The pump shower could not be better. 2 gallons of ambient water along with 2 quarts of boiling water create the perfect hot shower temp. This is enough for two people to take navy showers including a woman washing long hair.

It would be nice if it were strong enough to drap a towel over the top. I use a small peice of indoor / outdoor carpet for the floor. This keeps the mud out. I also try to place it where there will be good drainage.

4.0 out of 5 stars POP UP SHELTER, May 22, 2009
This review is from: Guide Gear Pop-up Shelter with Solar Shower Green (Misc.)
THIS ITEM WILL DEFINETLY SERVE ITS PURPOSE. I USE IT ON THE BEACH AND THE WIND IS A PROBLEM. SET UP IS A SNAP, BUT PAY ATTENTION TO HOW IT UNFOLDS. THIS WILL HELP WHEN THE TIME COMES TO PUT IT AWAY AGAIN. TOOK ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES THE FIRST TIME. NEED SAND BAGS TO HOLD IN PLACE (A FLOOR WOULD BE BETTER BECAUSE YOU COULD FILL THE BOTTOM W/ SAND TO HELP HOLD IT UP. I WILL TRY TYING TO THE TRUCK FOR SUPPORT. ALL IN ALL A VERY GOOD PRODUCTGuide Gear® Pop - up Shelter with Solar Shower
