Editorial Reviews

Review

This is an excellent academic review of all aspects of information technology that are applied to healthcare and is not a book for techies. -- Medix Website 20040516 A simply brilliant introduction to this fast developing field which is comprehensive, up-to-date, and at the same time sophisticated... It should be read by all healthcare professionals. -- 2004 BMA Medical Book Competition (awarded a Highl 20040516 I feel this book will give students who work in Health a good academic background to Health Informatics. I will recommend that they do purchase it if they intend to complete the degree programme. I have also recommended this book to be included in the reading list for the NHS Professional Awards. -- Jean Gilbert, Lecturer at the University of Derby 20050225

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read, comprehensive, March 17, 2011
This review is from: Guide to Health Informatics (Paperback)
I used this for an MSc in Health Informatics, and later to design a course I taught myself. It is very easy to read, and clearly written. The author is an internationally recognised expert in the area. The chapters are short enough that you don't get swamped with detail, but long enough to include adequate information.

The only drawback is that it needs updating by now - this is a rapidly changing area. But if you are looking for an introduction to informatics, this is the best book I have seen.

1.0 out of 5 stars Badly written text, December 8, 2010

This was the text recommended in a course I was taking. Simply the worst textbook I've ever read. Poor sentence structure and convoluted explanations- the editors need to really be reexamined if they decided a new edition again.

Terrible- There are plenty of better texts out there that cover the same material- I suggest find you them!
