Having been intrigued by studies of the Kabbalah, and enjoying such enlightening works such as POWER OF KABBALAH and A WISH CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE, I wanted to continue my research into this topic by reading Laitman's well-reviewed "Guide" to the Kabbalah.

While the jacket states that the book provides the reader with "a solid foundation for...

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!! All the real answers!!, February 13, 2003
This review is from: A Guide to the Hidden Wisdom of Kabbalah (Paperback)
Quote from the introduction:
"Man has always been looking for answers to the basic questions of life: Who am I? What is the purpose of my being here? Why does the world exist? Do we continue to exist after our physical being has completed its tasks? In this world of constant pressure, some find temporary satisfaction in Eastern techniques, measures aimed at relaxation, or reducing suffering by minimizing personal expectations and desires. Various forms of meditation, nutrition, and physical and mental exercise quiet man's natural instincts and enable him to feel more comfortable from the point of view of his physical state. This process teaches him to lower his expectations, yet leaves him in conflict with his true desires. Our life experience teaches us that we have unlimited desires but limited resources to satisfy them. This is the reason there is no way to completely avoid suffering. That is the subject of Kabbalah.

Kabbalah answers the basic questions of life. The essential questions of man's being add another dimension to human suffering. They do not allow us to feel satisfied even when this or that goal has been fulfilled. When one attains the goal he is striving for, he immediately feels he's missing yet another pleasure. This prevents him from enjoying his achievements, and his suffering is renewed. In retrospect, he sees that he has spent most of his time making an effort to achieve his goals, and has gained very little pleasure from success itself. Everyone, each in his own way, tries to answer these questions from the sources of information at his disposal. Each one of us formulates our own perception of the world based on our experience. Reality and everyday life constantly put this perception to the test, making us react, improve, or otherwise change it. With some of us, this process occurs on a conscious level; with others it happens unconsciously.

Kabbalah reaches out to all those who are seeking awareness. It teaches you how to add an essential feeling of the spiritual sphere - the sixth sense - that will affect your life in this world. This will allow you to perceive the upper world and gain control of your life."

5.0 out of 5 stars Complex, intriguing, sophisticated, authentic, January 8, 2004

Rav Laitman is arguably the most relevant Kabbalist of our time, a student of Baruch Ashlag, the son of Rav Yehuda Ashlag, who everyone agrees was the greatest Kabbalist of the 20th century. This book gets very technical in certain areas, but repeatedly reminds the reader that s/he need not instantly understand all of the information intellectually. He stresses that it is more important to make the effort to read the material and be open to learning in your heart rather than your head.

5.0 out of 5 stars A guide to the Hidden Wisdom of Kabbalah, March 3, 2003
By

This review is from: A Guide to the Hidden Wisdom of Kabbalah (Paperback)
There's a tremendous amount of a very wise and searching approach
to Kabbalah compressed in this book. If you somehow only glanced at
the title and said, "Oh, another title in kabbalah ......" and passed on by, you will have missed an opportunity to connect not
only with knowledge about wisdom, however you think of it, but with the deeper parts of yourself -- your soul, your potentials.
Rabbi Laitman opens up the issue of Kabbalah as a science,
which requires study and honesty with one's self,-- and a wilingness to "think outside of the box".
Kabbalah as taught here in a way asks you
to remain engaged in your surroundings or do what's required in this very physical world. It
is not a book that focusses on any kind of technique -- the
study is to help one understand and increase one's desire for
Greater Reality, desire for what is needed to move all of humanity towards its ultimate goal and fulfillment. I have found
this book both user-friednly, clear, but with a challenge to
heart and mind that invigorates. I highly recommend it!

This book has truly inspired me and attraced me to the wisdom of kabbalah, to understand kabbalah the science, and finally leaves me with a yearning to find more.

The book makes connections between our daily situations and their roots in kabbalah, helping me to relate to the science in a very personal way.

I encourage all of you to read this book and I can say that the author reaches out to the reader in a true way !!

5.0 out of 5 stars A guide for the future, July 13, 2009
Simply written with helpful snippets in the margins, this book provides the basic history and reason for the current need of Kabbalah. There is no celebrity endorsements or red strings here, just pure heart felt wisdom. Michael Laitman offers the most honest explanation of Kabbalah I have found. He gives you the facts and allows you to make the connections. I believe anyone from a beginner to an intermediate student of Kabbalah can benefit from this book.

The mind is like parachute works when it is open. What can be said about the life and the soul? Do we live or we just have sensation of living? What I have discovered here is that the life without connecting with your soul is not fulfilling and unsatisfactory. The book extends the foundation of Kabbalah to offer the practical fundamental steps on fulfilling this goal. If you are like myself want to discover the complete reality and live with the connection with your soul, this book will not open your mind but will put you on the road of the soul discovery and life worth living.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Overview of a Complex Subject, July 16, 2011
By

(REAL NAME)
I have read and reread this little book and still find great insights. It is an excellent overview of this complex and historic subject.
I first read this after attending some lectures by the author. I had my doubts about the popularity and groundswell of interest that was being generated by celebrity adherents. Dr. Laitman clearly and concisely answered many of my questions in a very readable and enjoyable manner. There are insights and pointers for the curious and some warnings about the pitfalls of being swept up in popularized and misleading aspects of Kabbalah. I highly recommend this little book for the seekers, the new students or the veteran disciple of the Kabbalah.

5.0 out of 5 stars Revealing, empowering, and meaningful., July 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Why Kabbalah?, you may ask, you may believe that this is a new religion, another foolish creation by man to explain whatever. And you know... you have the right to be suspicious, to question everything that comes upon you and most important... without embracing faith bellow reasoning.

Have you ever lost something, an specific item such as keys, wallet cell etc; and the first thing you do is to re-trece your steps to find what you've lost. You will search with in your memory bank even some times walk the path to awaken memories that may be asleep or forgotten. As well you may ask someone if they've seen it or seen you doing what and where around that time, and you/they may replied with an answer that is/isn't satisfactory to you.

How do you know if you/they are giving you the right clue?... BECAUSE YOU KNOW IT!!, no one and I really mean it, no one can tell you otherwise because you lived it, experience it, in other words is like a deja vu in your memory bank.

Well guess what?, the same goes with our souls there is a memory bank within it and your five senses may not agree, but deep inside you you know it, and no one can tell you other wise. Is like the "lost and found" thing.

So if you are looking for something missing in your life such as the CONNECTION with a Higher Force, your spirituality, what is your part in creation, why am I here for, those questions that no one can answer for you. Kabbalah will help you and you WILL know it. It is like a deja vu of your sixth sense because you've been there already and you are re-tracing your steps.

This book is a great start. BY the way I almost forgot Kabbalah is not a religion, you can be Christian and Kabbalist, Muslim and Kabbalist, Jewish and Kabbalist, Shamanist and Kabbalist, Hinduist and Kabbalist, etc, etc, etc,

5.0 out of 5 stars Hidden No More, August 16, 2010
The universe has been evolving for 14 billion years. From man's perspective the purpose and crowning glory of this evolution is the existence of man himself. So, is it not ironic that man is the only part of evolution that very well may consciously destroy itself. Kabbalah says this paradox can be explained. That there is a reason behind the madness.
In his book, `A Guide to the Hidden Wisdom of Kabbalah', Michael Laitman reveals the wisdom of Kabbalah in an easy and practical manner. This is an excellent book for beginning and veteran students of Kabbalah.
