From the Back Cover

An indispensable guide to The Hunger Games trilogy – will you survive without it?

At the end of the world, there is only Panem, a ruined nation where democracy is dead and the Hunger Games – a tournament in which twenty-four desperate teens must fight to the death live on-air – pass for primetime entertainment.

Sadistic though the rules may be, Suzanne Collins’ dangerously addictive tales of adventure, intrigue, romance and revenge have left a generation of readers hungry for more. Taking you deeper into the districts than ever before,
this enthralling guide features:

&bull Illuminating profiles of the trilogy’s main players

&bull In-depth coverage of the 74th and 75th Hunger Games

&bull Beautiful, original illustrations and detailed maps

&bull Mind-bending quizzes, crosswords and tests to determine your own strategy for winning the Hunger Games

&bull A collection of thought-provoking fact boxes, uncovering the literary and historical sources that inspired Collins’ work

Exploring Katniss’ incredible transformation from anonymous Seam girl to Mockingjay warrior in full, and covering all the aspects of the trilogy that fans love best – this unofficial, illustrated guide is a must-have for all aspiring tributes.

You know those stories where you get to know the world and the characters so completely that you never want the book to end? The kind where you watch the unread pages dwindling and despair? Well, the three novels of Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy definitely fit into that category for me! And when I saw that the talented Ms Carpenter had written this nifty guide - covering all three Hunger Games books in a single tome (and what a sumptuously designed tome it is!!) - well, I kind of knew I had to make it mine!!!! I didn't regret my decision either ;) this book is everything I'd hoped for and more. Not only did it call to mind all manner of little details of the books that I'd forgotten, it was such a great experience to see the trilogy through a fresh pair of eyes. Never before had I imagined the kind of personal ad that cantankerous old Haymitch might have penned to attract a soulmate . . . so thank you Miss Carpenter for making that particular imaginative leap. Whatever your knowledge of the Hunger Games, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. It'll enrich your experience of the Games like no other commentary I've read . . . enjoy!

Filled with info on Panem, quizzes such as "Which Tribute Are You [in the 74th Hunger Games]" and "How Much Do You Know About Panem". The author has included one section for each book in the Hunger Games trilogy, a drawing and bio for each main character. Needless to say, I've really enjoyed this "Panem Fieldguide". Two thumbs up!!!

I bought this book for a classroom activity. I have a big hunger games unit and the children have to pick their districts and design there costumes. The book has lots of pictures and information about the districts and the tributes and the kids loved the book.

This book is an introduction to the book as well as the movie. If you're not familiar with The Hunger Games, I suggest reading this book before seeing the movie. It will help explain some things that the movie doesn't explain, like avoxes (capital slaves who've had their tongues cut out for treason).
