A real life-saver,

This book has been a real life-saver for me. It introduced me to the idea of paradoxical thinking. I suffer from compulsive thinking, behaving, etc., and learning to think in paradoxes has been incredibly helpful to me in giving me relief from rigid, black-and-white thinking. Yes, as one reviewer pointed out, it is a slim volume. If you are interested in learning more in-depth about the hows and whys of O'Hanlon's techniques, you may want to read some of his other works. (Or go to his source: Milton Erickson). But if you are a sufferer, and just wants a handy reference for what works (laid out simply) and easily referenced, I can't recommend this book heartily enough.

I have come to expect nothing less than a great book from Mr. O'Hanlon. Whether you are a therapist, parent, friend or spouse, you will find nuggets of gold in this short and easy read. If you are tired of reading yet another book spouting the virtues of using embedded commands, you will be pleased to find what I prefer to view as "new" language patterns, or phrase structures that you can use to enhance your ability to assist another, or yourself.
Bill O'Hanlon has a gift of being able to insert humor into his work. This not only makes it fun to read, but memorable as well.

This "book" ,while reasonably useful, should have been written as an article or a pamphlet. There is simply not enough material here for a book. His other works are highly recommended, and this is too if you can get it for a dollar.
