5.0 out of 5 stars Really puts a smile on your face.
I really loved the tips in this book. They really put a smile on your face and make you think about how great life could be if everyone would share these random acts of kindness with each other.

Reading this is like reading a "feel good" greeting card. I felt like getting some crayons and coloring in the pictures. Yeah, I really liked the illustrations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Here is the 55th Top Secret BONUS Tip!, June 8, 2006
This review is from: Guide for Living: 54 Tips for a Happy Life (Paperback)
...but before I tell you what THAT is, I must say that I really enjoyed this little book of happy life tips that we all should know and practice, but seem to forget sometimes.

Since I'm more of a "visual" learner, I appreciated Alexi's illustrations that seemed to clarify David's "tips" and served up those extra smiles and "Ah-Ha!" moments.

Tip #6 is DESPERATELY NEEDED, I zoned out on Tip #22, and Tip #43 should be EVERY DAY (not just once in a while).

As for Tip #55 that didn't make it into this edition:

"Take at least 1 exotic cruise vacation every year with family or a group of your best friends". I heard the concept for this great little book came about on a cruise!

Now here's MY most important tip for you. "54 Tips For A Happy Life" only costs a few bucks, so why not buy a bunch of copies as stocking stuffers and "gifts for no reason at all" and help spead some more happiness around!

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes You Happy Inside and Out!, May 18, 2006
This review is from: Guide for Living: 54 Tips for a Happy Life (Paperback)
Like the previous reviewer said, this book will put a big smile on your face.

These wonderful truisms are wrapped around simple, heartfelt drawings by 7-year-old Alexi. Buy several of these books - they'd make great teacher gifts!

Some of the tips make you laugh out loud, while others are truly important. #46 is on my list to do asap.

Thanks for such a delightful book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute, Short & Quick, July 10, 2006

This review is from: Guide for Living: 54 Tips for a Happy Life (Paperback)
Cute, Short, Quick. Notice that all the words that come immediately to mind to describe this book don't take much time. The same is true for the activities suggested in this book--how long does it really take to give someone a hug or say hello to a stranger on the street? Yet all these activities are things that encourage a sense of connectedness and a renewal of a tired spirit. The illustrations have a childlike charm and simplicity. In a culture that seems more and more designed to demand and isolate it's nice to find a book that celebrates simpler values.

Life is filled with simple pleasures and memorable moments. But we seem to lose site of this truth, as we run faster and work harder. This precious book reminds us of what is really important - connection with others, relaxing, sharing. Someone called the book refreshing, and that's a great description of it, because it really made me feel better when I read it! The illustrations are simply charming, and complement the text well.

A good choice, and a fine gift, too!

This review is from: Guide for Living: 54 Tips for a Happy Life (Paperback)
This simple Guide For Living helps you come back to center in a world full of stress. It reminds us to take the time to stop and remember what is important.

Great book for reading with children and as an adult simply trying to get back on solid, less stressful ground.

Thank you David (author) and Alexi (illustrator)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great illustrations!, August 13, 2006
This review is from: Guide for Living: 54 Tips for a Happy Life (Paperback)
The tips for a happy life are easy to implement and don't require any major life changes, yet they will make your life more enjoyable. The best part of the book was the wonderful illustrations - they made reading the book even more enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very short and very sweet, July 11, 2006
This review is from: Guide for Living: 54 Tips for a Happy Life (Paperback)
This is a slender, sweet-as-sugar paperback book offering little ideas for making life more joyful. It put me in the mind of a number of similar types of books, such as the God's Little Instruction books. Perhaps the most distinctive element here are the illustrations for each and every tip by a 7 year old girl from Nevada. The target audience seems to be parents with children, but a wide audience could find some happy, useful thoughts here.
