It is up to date, easy to use and is the first source I use regarding medication.

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

I love this book. I use it all the time. I especially like the pics of the meds since many clients come in saying they took "the orange pill". It helps identify what meds they are taking. I often use it to educate my clients about the medication, the side-effects, what to look for, what to avoid, how to take it. It helps me support my clients more. I highly recommend it.

I highly recommend this book for professionals who work in the mental health field or for those who work in Child Protection or a related field that might need a quick reference for medications that their clients might be on if you aren't already familar with it.

PDR Drug Guide for Mental Health Professionals

This is a smaller version of the Physician PDR specifically for Mental Health practicianers. It is up to date, easy to use and is the first source I use regarding medication. I order one every year...every year more psychotrophic medications become available.

As a PDR this is a valuable resource -- but for $ 20-$28 you can also purchase Pocket Psych Drugs by Darlene Pedersen as a kindle version or print version on Amazon. Fits in your pocket and covers over 70 full psychotropic monographs (pharmacokinetics, contraindications, indications, dosages, adverse reactions, pregnancy/lactation considerations), but also includes for every drug -- geriatric and pediatric considerations, clinical assessments, clinical tips/alerts and substance abuse considerations where relevant and other helpful information (labs, BMI etc).

This is a great guide. I used it all the time. I wish they would revise it as there are many updates and new information since 2007.
