This is a nice little book for a bichon owner to have in his or her library. It's a bit long in the tooth though, so this book shouldn't or couldn't serve as a bichon caregiver's only resource. The first third of the book is about the history of the breed, breed standards, and a description of the breed.

Some of the recommended products illustrated here may be difficult if not impossible to find now.
The book is printed on glossy paper which might explain why some serious issues like hip dysplasia and tear stains are glossed over. Our poor Evie had hip dysplasia as well as bladder stones and catararcts in her old age.

Only two pages explain bichon grooming. Just as well. Grooming a bichon with it's dense coat is not a chore for the lazy. We always had our Evie professionally groomed with Mrs. Spudman doing the occasional touchup.

If you can find a copy of this book inexpensively, go ahead and buy it. You'll love the pictures of the bichons, perhaps the sweetest and most endearing dogs you'll ever meet.

This book was good. You should try it.
