Being an Oriental breeder since 1984, it is so fantastic to finally see an accurate, concise and informative book written on the popular Oriental cat! Lynn Miller has done an excellent job of describing the history, personality, show standard, exhibition and care of this active, intelligent and playful breed.Carol Fogarty/Chromatics Cattery is the Home of National and Regional Winning Oriental, Siamese and Colorpoint Shorthair.... Look for our cat, GC, NW Chromatics Amethyst, on the cover of - "The Guide to Owning an Oriental Shorthair Cat" by Lynn Miller.

The book is ok. It contains a very short history of the breed, and then information like what the breed standards are (for "showing), selection criteria for getting a kitten, and then some info about feeding, household safety, grooming and some references of mailing lists, organizations etc.

The book contains some pretty decent basic information. What disappointed me was the lack of specific information about the breed. Things like behavior, stories, quirks, how they get along with other cats or dogs or children, artistic pictures and photos etc. Also I think the book is a bit pricey considering it's (short) length.

This book has been one which I have turned to often to get information and find resources related to the world of Oriental cats. I love the breed and am owned by two wonderful Orientals.

THIS WAS A WELL PHOTOGRAPHED BOOK, EASY TO READ, AND INSTRUCTIVE.
