Must have for any rattlesnake enthusiast!, July 30, 2010
This review is from: A Guide to the Rattlesnakes of the United States (Perfect Paperback)
If your looking for material to put you to sleep, look elsewhere! This book, however, is supercharged with great info for both the "average nature lover" and the casual to fairly involved field-herpers. You won't find a field guide with better rattlesnake photos for identification anywhere! I can't say enough about this great book, that will always have a prized spot on my bookshelf at the front of my snake book collection.

Excellent book!, September 8, 2010
This review is from: A Guide to the Rattlesnakes of the United States (Perfect Paperback)
This book was given to me by a friend with much knowledge of rattlesnakes as a must have. As a novice in rattlesnakes, but an enthusiast, I found this book to be very comprehensive, informative, and quite descriptive. The authors did a remarkable job in conveying their knowledge on the subject and stimulated my interest even more in herpetology. Overall - high marks for this well-written and enjoyable book.

Two thumbs up, July 31, 2010
This review is from: A Guide to the Rattlesnakes of the United States (Perfect Paperback)
If you are looking for information on all the rattlesnakes in the US this is the book to get. It's informative, concise, well written & some of the best reptile photography I've ever seen. S Hurley, I think just missed the boat on what the point of this book is about. You can find anything on the Internet, but do you carry it with you wherever you go? Do you believe everything on the internet? Perhaps you are one of those people that think you know best. At least you recognize excellent photography.

Excellent!, July 30, 2010
This review is from: A Guide to the Rattlesnakes of the United States (Perfect Paperback)
This book is a great read from cover to cover. Tons of beautiful pictures and I really enjoyed the "trivia" sections listed under each snake's natural history, distribution, and biological info. Highly recommended!

Good book, good resource, July 30, 2010
This review is from: A Guide to the Rattlesnakes of the United States (Perfect Paperback)
Put quite simply, this book does what it is intended to do, and does it quite well. It is not intended to be an academic text, nor is it intended to shed a lot of illuminating light for those that have extensive experience dealing with these creatures. Rather, it was published with the layperson in mind, and along those lines there are few easily accessible books that match it in terms of photographic quality or "need to know info". Those just discovering these fascinating creatures will find colorful, vibrant pictures of each species, along with essential information about size, prey, range, etc. Those that have a bit more experience will surely appreciate the unique photo perspectives offered. Those that really have no specific interest in rattlesnakes but want to know what they saw on their morning hike will find this book a useful resource in that regard. In short, this compact field guide offers essential information without an overload of "technical" or scientific info. All readers (experienced and novice alike) will walk away with a greater appreciation for these creatures, and as such this book delivers on its promise.

Guide to the Rattlesnakes of the United States, July 30, 2010
This review is from: A Guide to the Rattlesnakes of the United States (Perfect Paperback)
This book gives great information along with outstanding photos of each species. It is a nice addition to field guides for field herpers who come across rattlesnakes and are not sure what species they have encountered. It is easy to follow unlike some books with too much scientific details. This book is a must have for the snake enthusiast.

Great Rattlesnake Book, July 31, 2010
This review is from: A Guide to the Rattlesnakes of the United States (Perfect Paperback)
This is the most extensive and comprehensive work on Rattlesnakes of the U. S. since L. M. Klauber published his two volume work. Written in a style that will be well appreciated by an audience ranging from amateur herpers to herpetological professionals, this work is laced with wonderful photographs mostly taken by the talented and dedicated authors. As a herper with over 50 years of experience, I highly recommend this work. If you're interested in Rattlesnakes, this is a "must have"!

Snake Manual, August 1, 2010
This review is from: A Guide to the Rattlesnakes of the United States (Perfect Paperback)
As a native to the southwestern desert, snakes are a part of this kind of environment. As such, I found this book to be well documented with loads of valuable information for the snake enthusiast as well as the non-snake enthusiast. In addition, it is beautifully photographed to not only capture the beauty of the desert and its inhabitants, but to also assist those of us who have very little knowledge of the variety of snakes that live in our local region. The photographs are so beautifully taken that it makes anyone's 'job' easier in being able to identify the variety of rattlesnake. I found this book to provide invaluable information to anyone who is an outdoor enthusiast so that you can be well informed as well as being able to identify the snakes in an emergency situation, should that situation present itself. This book is a must-have anyone's reference library, if you enjoy exploring the outdoors, for someone who is interested in snakes but has limited information, and those who want to be well educated. For those who have very limited information about snakes, this book is a great place to begin your education.

Rattlesnake guide review, July 30, 2010
This review is from: A Guide to the Rattlesnakes of the United States (Perfect Paperback)
This book is a perfect addition to anyone's literature collection if you have any interest in snakes and more specifically rattlesnakes. It covers all the basic information about physical appearance, range maps and lots of color photos of all the rattlesnakes found in the USA. It's not intended to be a detailed scientific review but more of a brief overview of what you might encounter in certain parts of the country. As a field guide it's small enough to carry on a hike to help with snake identification.
