Book Description

November 15, 2005
Unlike the vast majority of books about entertaining, which are really about interior design or over-the-top decoration, are cookbooks, cocktail books, or seemingly vanity projects, "The Guide to Ridiculously Easy Entertaining" is different. It’s practical. It’s geared toward how people actually entertain today: conversing and enjoying the company of friends and acquaintances over good drink and food. This book provides the nuts-and-bolts information that people can really use when entertaining without being didactic and with a sense of humor. It covers all of the basics necessary for successful party planning, plus a lot more. Chock full of food and drink-related information, this book will become a handy reference to use when planning events and even for visiting restaurants or strolling the aisles of local wine, beer and liquor stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have guide to creating a classy and memorable social gathering with great drink and food, December 10, 2005
This review is from: The Guide to Ridiculously Easy Entertaining - Tips from Marfreless (Paperback)
The Guide to Ridiculously Easy Entertaining: Tips from Marfreless is much more than a compilation of party favorite appetizer, drink, and side dish recipes (such as Bacon & Tomato Tartlets, Super Bowl Punch, or Potatoes & Stilton Gratin). The majority of The Guide to Ridiculously Easy Entertaining lives up to its title in that it walks the reader through exactly how to plan and throw a gala social event. Chapters address how to handle the initial planning, whether to hire help and if so how to go about it, the nuts and bolts of getting supplies and setting up, tips for being a gracious host, specific advice for dinner parties, wine tasting parties, work- related events, and much more. A glossary and extensive selection of references, such as lists of cocktail mixers, mailing guidelines, music suggestions, and many other useful fact sheets round out this all-purpose, easy-to-follow, must-have guide to creating a classy and memorable social gathering with great drink and food.

this is a great book for those who don't know how to host a party.
everything is covered: how to invite, how to set-up/prepare food, drink ideas and music.
It also covers the gamut of what to expect, funny characters of who show up at parties and how to deal with those characters.
