About the Author
Shelley Johnson and Vaughan Smith (Appleton, Maine) have been exploring and kayaking Maine's waterways for the past fifteen years. They are both Registered Maine Guides and Amerian Canoe Association certified coastal kayaking instructors. They have co-produced a sea kayak safety video, and are partners in a paddlesports marketing company, Powerface, Inc., based in Maine.
Shelley is the author of the Woman's Guide to Sea Kayaking (Ragged Mountain Press/McGraw-Hill, 1998) and was former sea kayak editor for Canoe & Kayak magazine.
