Editorial Reviews

Review

"For research on Mayo families, this book is a must-have" Irish Roots "...excellent guide to Mayo records" Family Tree Magazine (UK) "There is a wealth of information crammed into this little book" Connecticut Nutmegger "This excellent skilfully-researched work is certainly the best of the series to date. It (sets) a standard for such county publications that future authors and researchers will have difficulty in surpassing" Dun Laoghaire Gen Soc Journal 6(3).

I've had this book on my radar screen for some time but wasn't ready to spend $20 plus shipping, so I was delighted to see a used copy available. To my surprise, the book arrived from Great Britain. It was shipped pretty promptly and arrived well within the estimated time frame. The book itself is in good condition. It covers a vast array of possible records to search and explains why they were created and what they covered. It also confirmed what I kind of knew -- that many records were either created after the time period my ancestor left Ireland, or if records ever existed, they were probably destroyed in the 1920's. Still, I have some leads to follow that I didn't have before. I would say this is a valuable resource for anyone interested in Mayo County genealogy, especially at the used price!
