A Hands Down Great Book For Beginning Managers,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Guide to Understanding Financial Statements (Paperback)
This book is amazing in that it gives a comprehensive, consise, and simple explanation for finicial statements. I have read many such books, yet this tops them all for its relative simplicity while still being able to get across its point. I would recommend this book to any beginning accountant, manager, or investor. This book shed light on information overlooked by unexperienced businessmen and is a great buy.

This book does not very in-depth into the intricacies of financial statements, but it is a good book and for a newcomer would be very useful. The author does a great job explaining the types of financial statements in a simple manner but still respecting the reader and not insulting their intelligence. If anyone is aspiring to start a business and have no accounting experience or knowledge, this book does a great read.

Financial Statements,
This review is from: The Guide to Understanding Financial Statements (Paperback)
This book just really breaks down anything that you need to know what goes on a financial statement in detail. The book also has self study questions or review questions, case studies and alot of examples to help the reader to have a visual on what the statements should look like or include. Even if you do not work in finance, but need a general understanding of financial statements, this book should help.

This review is from: The Guide to Understanding Financial Statements (Paperback)
For those of you who find accounting dry and boring, this book is a good read. Its well laid out and easy to understand. Although accounting is a dry and boring subject, the authors communicate basic concepts to the reader in a way that helps the novice understand accounting prinicples and financial statements. This book is a must read for anyone wanting to understand financial statements or start and run a business. It was a big help to me in understanding some of the concepts which before I read it, did not make sense to me. Its written for us non-financial people.

Basic finance,

This review is from: The Guide to Understanding Financial Statements (Paperback)
Although, Math was one of my favorite subjects, I never found accounting and finance particularly interesting. I used to often wonder why? Then, I realized it was probably because finance is not given enough attention in the curriculum of the K12 system. As a result, many people who dont require accounting and finance in their early career become increasingly separated from the world of finance as years go by. But as people move up the corporate ladder to management levels, the requirement of knowing atleast basic finance and accounting comes back. For that scenario, this book offers a great solution. It takes you through the most basic financial concepts and provides many examples that are pretty close to real world scenarios. I work in the software side of the financial services industry and from time to time I have to engage in problems requiring basic financial understanding. After reading the book, I find myself more confident analyzing a problem or going into any finance heavy discussion. It was a definite help for me. But, it seems if I dont use these concepts often, many of them are easy to forget. So, I would recommend keeping it around as a reference.

The Guide to Understanding Financial Statements is a good reference for any individual without an accounting background. I think a better title for the book should be Understanding Financial Statements for Dummies because the authors do such a great job on explaining the different types of financial statements. After reading this book, you will have an appreciation for the accountants in your organization; I know that I do.
