This study guide has lots of well rounded ideas for the classroom and at home. Very creative ideas like comparing the uniforms from that time period to modern day. I like the potato stamp activity. Quizes and Answer Keys are included.

This guide has great assessments to give the students. I wish it did have a few more ideas that cover the various levels of Bloom's Taxonomy so as to reach all levels of students. I used this guide this year and will continue to use it in the future.

A classic story for middle school readers. I use the book and the Guide with my reading group. Combination of interesting reading and historical facts. The Guide offers vocab and other interesting activies for students to work on while reading the book. A good value.

I bought this and the DVD for my grandchildren to take to their teachers, to use in class. Right now it is with my granddaughter Michaela's teacher, to show when they get to the Revolutionary War. Mr. Sanders was really pleased that I brought it to him. As each child reaches 4th or 5th grade, I will send it then to their teacher.
Johnny Tremain and The Newsies really stir my soul!

Johnny Tremain was above average,

I read Johnny Tremain as a reader in Challenger in the 5th grade. It is somehow interesting because of the relations with Johnny and the other characters in the book. At the very beginning Johnny encounters a problem that changes his life, but by the end he has matured and finds out that his problem can be fixed. This is also interesting because it has war not only between Britain and the colonists but also with Johnny and the other characters or even with himself. There is also a romantic plot in some parts of the book. Overall I think Johnny Tremain is an above average book but not the best.
