Very durable toy,

We bought these for our toddler several months ago. She is too little to make the constructions, but loves stringing the magnets together to make 'snakes'. She finds steel objects in the house that the magnets stick to. She likes them a lot more than wooden blocks. They are a good large size, but not too big for little hands to hold, easy to tidy up and don't hurt if you step on them!

A bit disappointed,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When we saw the picture online it looked like we were going to be able to make what we saw in the picture...to our disappointment we later found out that the toy pictured on the box was not the 36 piece but actually about 150 pieces. So we opened the box and was only able to make a fraction of the structure. The concept was nice, but need to have at least 150 pieces to build something cool. The value was not there.

I bought this toy for my twin boys' 2nd birthday, figuring that their 6-yr old and 11-month old sisters would enjoy it also. One benefit of having so many kids is that almost every toy purchase will be enjoyed by someone in the household. Turns out that not a single one of our kids enjoyed this toy for any length of time after the first morning of play. The polarity of the magnets has been frustrating for them (i.e. they don't understand why the magnets fail if trying to join a positive to another positive pole or a negative to another negative pole). Also, the small clips that accompany the product immediately went into the mouths of both 2-year olds. The toy label clearly states this product is for ages 2 and up; I had to sneak these small objects (choking hazards) away from the children. Lacking the clips prevented us from utilizing the shapes that came with the product. Thus, we were left with the magnetic balls and cylinders only which allowed pyramids, cube-like structures, and ice cream cones (one magnetic ball on a cylinder). I thought this would be fun for our group, but it unfortunately wasn't.

I was quite disappointed in this toy. I got it for my 12 month old who iwas obsessed with magnets. I thought she would have fun pulling them apart, trying to put them together, and then later enjoy building things with them. She does enjoy pulling them apart but doesn't get that excited about it. However, my disappointment is that there really isn't much you can build with it, apart from pyramids. The magnets are just not quite strong enough. I could see that a preschooler might enjoy these for a very short spell but I don't think it has the long term appeal of something like Lego.
I do visit a preschool where they have these, come to think of it (I'm an itinerant early childhood special education teacher). I never see the kids playing with them, apart from occasionally rolling the balls across the floor. They far prefer playing with basic wooden blocks.

I got this toy for my grandson's 6th birthday and he just loves it. He and his 2 year old brother are able to play with it together and they do just that, for hours at a time. I would definitely recommend it.

FUN for ALL ages,

I like this because any age can enjoy playing and building with the Magneatos. We got this for our 3 year old granddaughter but her 9 month old brother likes to play with it. The pieces are large enough that we don't worry about any little one choking.

This is a great idea for a magnetic toy for toddlers, however it is
frustrating to try and build something with any height because the magnets are not strong enough.

The Magneatos caught my attention because I have an original set with the small pieces. The small set is not practical for toddlers and infants. This allows kids to be creative while learning colors and shapes. The 3 year old I bought it for loved it! It was the gift that distracted him from opening all his presents at Christmas!
