There are many choices for a kid's dollhouse out there. This one is the best in my humble opinion because it allows so much room for personalizing. The hard work is done for you. You don't have to built it from scratch. The dollhouse is real wood, not MDF. However, you do have the option of wallpapering, painting etc or leaving it natural. Guidecraft offers furniture separately but I do not recommend the furniture for this dollhouse. The furniture is too plain and modern for a nice Victorian style house. You should try to find Victorian style furniture for it. So far we have left ours natural. As my girls get older (like 8 or 9), I plan on letting them decorate it! It will surely last!

We bought this dollhouse for our daughter for Christmas. We spent a long week priming and painting it just right. It took paint well (including the trim which we primed and painted white), and was easy to assemble. Much easier to put together than the more elaborate kits, but gave us the flexibility to decorate it as much as we wanted. I also made little curtains for the windows, and tiny paintings. We plan to add flower boxes in the spring. We stained the floors to make them look like real oak hardwood floors. Very sturdy and 2 kids could easily play at one time. Our daughter hasn't stopped playing with it! A terrific dollhouse all around!

This really is a lot of dollhouse for the money. It is roomy on the inside, beautiful on the outside and just the right size. It is not varnished which I like as I intend to paint it. The windows are plastic and I am not sure why they chose blue - but they snap out easily and my plan is to spray paint them a different color which I think will work out fine. The one big negative with this dollhouse is assembly -- my husband is really handy and he had a tough time with this one -- I originally thought I could do it -- no way -- there are lots of grooves and screws and if you don't get everything just right the floors won't sit level- so plan on having someone adept who has time to help. Although my husband would give it a low rating b/c of assembly I still think it is a great deal.

This dollhouse is the best purchase I have made in years for my daughters. The workmanship is just wonderful. Very sturdy! Lots of rooms for the dolls and a balcony. I highly recommend this especially for a school or daycare. It's much more fun off the floor on an end table or something like it so the kids can see in the rooms better. This will not be a toy we will be throwing out but more of an heirloom.

I am tempted to fib a bit and say I bought this dollhouse for a grandchild but really it was for me. I've always been interested in miniatures but wanted to spend most of my time on interiors instead of exteriors. Difficult and time consuming kits were not for me!
This doll house is beautiful. I was able to put it together in about four hours. At one point I had to start the second floor over as I didn't have things aligned right but since there are so few screws and no gluing involved this was easy to do and the results are stunning. It is very sturdy and easily customizable.
This is a big dollhouse with a lot of room for furnishings. The porches are really cute. I stained the floors before putting it together and it looked so realistic in pictures I took that several family members thought I'd pulled up my own carpet!
My one complaint is the blue window frames. But this is easily fixed with some spray paint. It took several coats of white but eventually the blue was gone and it looks fine.
I'm very happy with this dollhouse and after months of searching and looking at many different houses you can't beat this price or quality. This will definitely become a family heirloom. Five stars all around.

This house is quite lovely. It is very large and not too difficult to put together. It takes time to put together, but the instructions (wordless) are quite easy to follow. There were two mistakes in the directions (pieces upside down or backwards) but anyone could figure this out pretty easily. The windows, that others have said were hard to deal with, were pre-installed and quite easy to pop out and put back in. There is no finish on the wood, so paint or sealer is needed but we were too tired to do that after putting it together. It will be painted in due time. The only drawbacks to the house are the spiral staircases. They look great in the picture on the box but are positioned in such a way as to block two rooms for playing. Also there is no "hole in the floor" where dolls can actually emerge onto an upper floor. We solved this by leaving the staircases out. Maybe at a later date we will re-drill the holes for the stair dowels and/or make an opening in the floors of the upper levels. It does not deter the delightful play of my twin granddaughters. It is a really nice house!
