I am writing this because I saw the one star that was given (I am looking for another for my daughter) and felt that I should mention how much we love this toy chest. My son received this as a gift for his birthday. It's beautifully made, has held up well to a two-year-old smashing toys in and out of it, and a perfect size. Putiing it together was, for my husband, a relatively easy adventure. I can't say that I would have found it as simple. The safety lever works well and we appreciate the anti-finger-pinching space. Terrific all around. My only complaint is that some of the paint is chipping, but the complaint is not with the manufacturer, but rather my son banging his toys on it. We also have the matching table and chairs - just as well-made. Oh, we've had it for about a year and a half now.

I am just writing this to defend the toy box.My son has had this toy box for two years now.We love it the pictures are beautiful and we had no problem with the quality at all.My son is now about to be four and has sat inside and climbed all over it without any problem.Also our did not come with any wheels so Im not even sure that the bad reviewers had the right product.Anway we love love love love it!

I purchased this chest as a birthday gift for my grandson. He is 3 years old and a big fan of pirates. My daughter reports that he does like the chest and that it has come in handy for kids' storage. The chest arrived with a dented lid, but the company quickly replaced it. My daughter was pleased with their response and customer service.

The artwork on the chest was wonderful! It's also a good size to hide all, or at least most, of your little one's toys. However, the quality of the materials & hardware were a disappointment. We're going to replace all the screws. It was also a bit dinked up and the bottom piece was cracked when it arrived. The cracked bottom made it difficult to put together but we didn't want to deal with having to return it. My husband is going to reinforce the whole bottom. It's really cool and will serve it's purpose but it's lacking in quality. _

I received this order and upon opening the box i can say the quality of the wood and fit and finish is great. However, its the week before christmas and this is suspeod to be a gift for my son. I did not receive any hardware or instructions. I cannot just use some screws as this requires specific hardware. While the quality is good, the quality control is not. I have emailed the seller to see if we can resolve quickly.

Great chest for the price. Fun graphics and happy to see divider with this item - hard to see in pictures. Item shipped fast.

I bought this for my son for Xmas and just got around to putting it together today. I was very impressed with the pirate detail and quality of the wood but when it came time to attaching the (very heavy) lid I was a little concerned with the rather small screws given to attach. During and after I was wondering about how long this would actually last. Time will tell I suppose.
I then proceeded to attach the wheels. (same screws) Fit wheel went on easily. Second wheel, screw #2 (of 4)- In 3/4 of the way and it snaps. The head came right off. Hmmm, so I proceed to try another. Same thing. So now I have 2 screws screwed in the holes with no heads so I cant get them out. I go to the 4th screw (im thinking if I get 2 of 4 in I should be ok). Im extra cautious this time since its a crucial screw. This one snapped as well. So I had to remove the good screw and first wheel. I may get around to boring out the headless screws at some point and using my own screws but for now the chest will remain wheel-less. As mentioned, Im not too confident the lid will last so im not investing any more time into this chest unless I think it will stay in one piece for more then a week.

I've been looking for a while for a nice toy box to replace the canvas one my daughter destroyed. Like it was mentioned before, the art work was beautiful and that's what attracted me to it. My daughter loves pirates, so I figured this would be great.

When I received it, the lid was cracked, but I figured it could've happened during transportation and it was something I could deal with because it was on the inside. As I separated the pieces, my 11 month old son lifted a aide panel and the thing fell apart. I thought it was due to bad gluing and I rescrewed it in place.

I proceeded with putting everything together and called my husband to help hold the lid while I screwed in the pieces. He lifted the lid and the front panel popped right off. The wooden dowels weren't even glued in and they were super delicate. That's when we noticed the screws on the lid were put in on the edge so the wood cracked. I had to get nails and nail the panel back in place. Out of the 9 holes that were drilled in to connect the brackets, only one was the right size. The rest were so small, that half way in the wood started creaking like it was going to crack. I was really worried that it would break. When I tried, and I emphasize tried, to screw in the spring attachment to the lid and box, the screws kept coming out. I had to use my own screws because of this. Even with my screws being larger, they still popped out when I lifted the lid.

The only things that went in correctly were the wheels. So far it's been a couple of days and my son keeps opening the lid and I'm waiting for it to collapse. I'm keeping my eyes on it, but it keeps creaking. This is a law suit waiting to happen.
