Our daycare center bought 1 to test it before investing any more money. We were looking for something safe, not super expensive and that would last to heavy duty useage for a long time. We used the first one at the water fountain. It worked great. Three months later, we bought four more (2 for the girls restroom and 2 for the boys) so the children could wash their hands after each restroom use. They too are standing up great, still looks like new except for the blue step grippers. We have an average daily attendance of 80, ages 1-5.

Arrived today after a little bit of a (not unanticipated) wait. My son is excited that he doesn't need my help to get to the sink and wash his hands. However, given the price of this piece, I was surprised by the low quality of the construction materials and the finish (which is really more of a dark cherry than a true espresso) is worn (scuffed, rubbed and dinted) on all of the outer edges. Almost looks like the product was used before we received it. Assembly was fairly straight forward. If you can find a different option that is better, I'd love to know! We need this style step stool to work with the pedestal sink in our powder room, so it does the job.

I wasn't impressed by this product because of quality.

Instead, I bought Wood Designs Healthy Kids product called Step-Up-N-Wash. The link is to the company web site/store but I was able to buy it cheaper elsewhere. Anyway, Step-Up-N-Wash came assembled. It's very sturdy and slip-resistant and the perfect height for bathroom and kitchen. It's well worth the extra

I was looking for a step stool to use in the kitchen to let my son get up to see the counters and sink safely - we got this product today (from another source). First problem - the predrilled holes for the screws didn't all line up properly. Second problem - the top step would not stay in the grooves that are designed to hold it. They are very shallow and the tongue that is to hold the step in is very small. I have a 31 lb. child who loves to jump and bounce and there is no way this would be safe for him. My husband is returning it as I write.

This does exactly what is is suppose to do. Allows our daughter to watch us at the kitchen counter and to get herself to the sink to wash her hands. Assembly was a breeze, its very stable and she feels comfortable on it. The only issue I have is that the finish gets dinged and comes off very easily. Being something kids will use it should be designed to take more abuse.

The boards of this product are made up of several thin layers of wood glued (barely) together.

It turned out that holes for the screws were not drilled deep enough which resulted in the boards splitting when attempting to tighten the screws.

A total waste of time... Now I have to spend time boxing this thing back up in order to send it back and get a refund.

Frustrating!! - for the price I thought this would be quality...

Don't waste you time on this product.

UPDATE: I want to give credit to the manufacturer's customer service based on the fact that they immediately refunded my purchase after sending them some pictures of the defective product. I did not have to send it back and thus not have to spend time packaging it back up, saving me additional frustration. A+ for that service!

I was looking for something between a wooden step stool and a children's kitchen helper. I wanted something sturdier, stabler, and taller than a typical step stool, with a handle bar or rail. But I also wanted something with an open front, so my toddler could climb it by herself without my having to lift her in and out of it like a typical kitchen helper. The wraparound "cage" design of typical kitchen helpers, I think, was unnecessary (even unhelpful). Her big brother had a Learning Tower at her age, but it was bulky and awkward to use. I tested a few other kitchen helpers (including Guidecraft's), but I didn't like any of them.

I'm pleased to report that Guidecraft's High Rise Step-Up Stool fit all my criteria, and has been perfect for our needs — exceeding my expectations! My toddler, who is on the petite side, can safely reach the sink and kitchen counter by herself. She is so happy and proud to be able to wash her hands by herself (in truth, I have to help her turn on the water and reach the soap; but that's a bonus!). The anti-skid strips and guard rail are really useful additions. Although the step-up stool is a bit on the bulky side, it's nowhere near as bulky as the Learning Tower was, and unlike the kitchen helpers I tested it's easy to move thanks to the handles and light weight.

But the best part is something I wasn't even expecting: It turns out it makes a perfect off-label high chair for our child-sized table! Sitting on the top step with her feet on the bottom, my daughter is just at the right level to eat, draw, play with play dough, etc. It actually works better than the child-sized chair that came with the table. (It wouldn't work as such for a full-sized table, though.)

Despite all the reviews, I personally found that it was VERY easy to put together and used nothing but what was provided by manufacturer. Nevertheless the stool is very stable. I've had it for over a year and the only problem was that some of the plywood eventually "peeled off" one of the corners. Nothing that couldn't have been fixed with a drop of glue if needed. It could easily handle 2 toddlers, but is not quite wide enough for them to be comfortable (but they squeeze in somehow anyway).
