4.0 out of 5 stars My eyes were opened, April 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: A Guided Tour of Hell: In the Words of Migraine Sufferers (Paperback)
After reading the comments from all the migraine sufferers, my eyes were really opened to what these people must go through just to live their lives. This is a must read for anyone with migraines or that lives with a migraine sufferer - if for no other reason than to know they are not alone in their struggles

4.0 out of 5 stars You are not alone!, June 8, 2005
This review is from: A Guided Tour of Hell: In the Words of Migraine Sufferers (Paperback)
This book is mainly a compilation of quotes from migraine sufferers. The woman that put the book together wrote a little about each section before listing the quotes. That's why I gave it only four stars.

That said, it is still a good book to read. If you are a migraine sufferer, it will make you laugh, cry, relate, and best of all realize that there are many others out there with extremely similar experiences to your own. It is a book of affirmation and strength for the migraine sufferer. I even learned something about my own migraines; I've had symptoms that were never covered in the migraine books and that I had never known another sufferer to have (my sister, mother, and grandmother all suffer(ed) from migraine) but I found them here.

The many sufferers that contributed have put the perils we all feel into words for other sufferers and non-sufferers alike to understand. If you can get someone close to you to read this to help them understand, they will be more sympathetic. If you have never had a migraine and wonder what it is like, these souls will give you a very good idea.

Just a note to any migraine sufferers out there: one person mentioned how she put a plastic coat hanger on her head for relief. Try it, I'm wearing one right now! It's better than beating your head against the wall, just make sure you get a comfortable one. :)

Anyone that has migraine or knows someone close to them with migraine should have this book!

It really lets you into the perspective of what it takes to be with such a horrible disease.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best explanation of migraines yet!!, November 13, 2011
This review is from: A Guided Tour of Hell: In the Words of Migraine Sufferers (Paperback)
I have suffered from migraines for 20 years now. Trying to put into context for my family the pain and confusion that comes with migraines is difficult. This book gives excellent descriptions of what sufferers must endure, and was an eye opener for my family when my own words fell short of capturing the painful ordeal. I highly recommend this book to sufferers and non-sufferers alike!
