More About the Author

In MMORPGs past and present, Adam "Ferrel" Trzonkowski has taken the reins of leadership and driven his guild through all styles of raiding from hardcore and "server first" to casual yet "current tier."

For over fifteen years Ferrel has claimed repeated victories in these endeavors and after coupling these successes with writing articles for his blog at EpicSlant.com, he dedicated his time to writing and publishing.

In his first book, "The Guild Leader's Companion," Ferrel shared his experiences as a successful leader with others. It is a guide to aspiring leaders and an aid to those already established in the role, covering topics ranging from handling yourself to handling others. Most importantly, he strove not to tell other players what to do, but to instead give them a different perspective on what they already know, to challenge preconceived notions, and to teach something new along the way.

Through his blog, books, attending conventions, and other venues, Ferrel continues to be an active member of the MMORPG community and works toward his goal of bringing more positivity to guild leadership, raiding, and online gaming in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for Guild leaders new and old April 7, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is a great read, it covers a ton of issues that you will experience as a guild leader or even if you are a supervisor in a real job. It will give you advise on compromise (I Love the "make sure nobody wins if you compromise" paragraph). It makes sense, it answers a ton of questions and even if you are an old pro at guild leading, it will give a different look at things that you may not have thought of before.

If you are new to guild leadership, it will give you the tools to know what you are getting yourself in to. It has helped me think outside the box when dealing with my own guilds issues.

If you follow MMORPG blogs at all, chances are you know Adam "Ferrel" Trzonkowski at his site, Epic Slant ([...]). Adam's been sharing his experiences as both a guild leader and an MMO player for many years, and it was great to finally be able to read a concise edition of his heady wisdom and down-to-earth practicality with The Guild Leader's Companion.

Adam strikes a good tone in the book between leadership ideals and real-game examples. Being a good guild leader isn't just showing up to have fun or go on a power trip, but to know how to work with people to bring out their best -- and Adam tells us exactly how to do this.

Great, easy read! You'll also want to read an interview he did with Massively about his book:

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Primer for Guild Leadership March 21, 2011
By C. Coke
Format:Paperback
I've read this book twice and can say that it is an absolute must-have for any player considering guild leadership or wanting to know the "best practices" of successful leadership. The author has a wealth of experience and had to learn -- at least initially -- under the pressure of having a leadership role thrust upon him. It turned out to be a blessing, however, as it is very evident that he flourished in that position. Mr. Trzonkowski covers everything a new guild leader will need to consider or will likely encounter during their tenure. He provides real life examples and suggestions, as well as provides samples of the suggested materials he recommends creating with every guild's inception.

It's also worth noting that much of what is included here is also relevant outside of MMORPGs. Much of what it takes to be a good guild leader is congruous to leadership in professional roles, as well. Make no mistake, leading a guild is first about being a good leader with *people* rather than players.

Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Guild Master Guide December 18, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fast smooth delivery. The book is as advertised and a great deal. I purchased this book to see what a guild master's role is and how much work it would take to run a guild. There is some good information in this book. I would purchase from this seller again.
