Product Description

Product Description

Zombicide is a collaborative game for 1 to 6 players, for 13 years old and up. A game lasts for 20 minutes (beginner board) to 3 hours (expert board).

Each player controls from one (for 6 players) to four (solo game) "survivors", human beings in a zombie-infested town. In fact, "survivors" hastily change to "hunters" to smash zombies through and through. However, the team must constantly keep the balance between survival and slaughter: as the zombicide's going on, the "Danger level" is going up and infected are growing in numbers. Any misstep can turn to disaster.

Zombicide is a fun and easy game with cool minis in an archetypical, popular and comics-inspired environment. Ambiance is constantly kept between "beat'em up" and "survival horror" as characters keep on turning from preys to predators. Humor and gloom happily marry in a zombie-fest.

- 71 minis (32mm scale): 6 Survivors, 40 Walkers, 16 Runners, 8 Fatties and 1 Abomination
- 110 mini-cards (42 Zombie cards, 62 Equipment cards, 6 Wounded cards)
- 9 gaming tiles
- 6 dice
- 6 Survivor Identity Cards
- 24 advancement counters
- 4 Cars tokens (police car and pimp mobile)
- 18 Noise tokens
- 10 Objective tokens
- 12 Door tokens
- 6 Zombie spawn tokens
- 1 "First player" token
- 1 Exit point token

**UPDATE Jan 1, 2013** Guillotine Games has released some updated and expanded rules for this game. Make sure to print out or add the additions! [...]

(Note:I have received this game from Kickstarter already. Please scroll to Pros and Cons if you don't like to read.)

When Zombicide first came out on Kickstarter, many people were skeptical if CoolMiniOrNot would be able to pull off an authentic and enjoyable board game experience themed around zombie killing. Search 'zombie' on the Kickstarter search bar and you'll see the multitude of people trying to make money off of what has become a cash cow genre. However, having played various zombie games in my lifetime, including Last Night on Earth, Zombie Dice, and a variety of Zombie video games, I can safely say this board game is a solid addition to anyone's game collection.

Zombicide is a board game where 1 to 6 players control characters to fight off impending zombie hoards. Strategy might revolve around surviving as long as you can or completing a series of objectives, but the core element of gameplay involves moving, searching and killing (much like Last Night on Earth).

The unique element to this game when compared to Last Night on Earth is Zombicide's unique level up/threat system. As a character kills more zombies, they level up their skills, which also increases the threat level of new spawning zombies. So while your character might have an extra combat action after leveling, they will also face more and tougher zombies as you continue to play. There are 4 character/threat levels, dictated by color- blue, yellow, orange and red.

Wow, so far we have played a few games and it is really hard to beat Zombicide, which I like. The rules were a bit confusing at first, but after a couple of play throughs everything was easy to dial in.

The components are all top notch and well designed. The game tiles are perfect and fit the Zombie vibe perfectly. Missions, weapons, skills all feel like they are right out of a modern day FPS which opens the doors to those who love video games and have been looking for something outside of the video game market to try out (imagine actually having real people in the room with you playing a game).

By default the Zombie deck being used as a complete set is like playing a game on hardcore difficulty. Fortunately the cards are numbered and you can easily take out the more unforgiving cards for a more intermediate or easy game, which is great for when you are still getting a hang of the games mechanics.

There is a ton of replay value and you can easily design your own version as well, thanks to the interchangeable tiles.

So far, we have been very pleased!

The price may seem steep, but it was worth every penny!!!

The God:

Its actually fun and easy to learn, specially thanks to the not competitive factor of the game that lets experienced players tutoring newcomers as they go.

This is a co-op game for up to 6 players that shines on providing you with immediate satisfaction almost every turn. You can either search and find useful items for the team or even kill 12 or more zombies in one turn and honestly who wouldn't love that.

If you gather the right group of people willing to spend 45-80 mins on a small campaign I can assure you'll have an awesome time while fighting that is probably the biggest horde of zombies on a board game so far.

The Bad:

You will find other reviewers complaining about the mechanics and rules, but nobody has taken their time to explain you why.

The biggest problem I personally found is that you can break it very easily, by just staying in the blue level (low zombie alert) and looting the same room over and over again until everybody obtains an overpowered weapon -after that- not even the Abomination is an actual challenge.

They could have implemented a turn tracker or even a timer for the difficulty level increase and prevent this from happening by forcing the players to act and make their decisions based on an actual treat.

The Beauty:

This I believe has been one of the most successful Kick Starter projects of the year (2012) by founding more than $700,000 and Guillotine Games responded in the best way possible with high quality components, game exposure and development support.

Components: I can assure you that this big nice looking box is full, this is not the type of game that tricks you in the components department.

Zombicide features 71 28mm miniatures with fifteen different scuplts: Eight different urban zombie sculpts with eight miniatures each, one "boss" urban zombie, and six different survivors. the game was produced by Guillotine Games and Cool Mini or Not. Cool Mini or Not is one of the best known creators of miniatures and miniatures games by the dedicated painting community. So it's not surprising that the plastic used for these miniatures are well-suited for painting, and that the miniatures have impressive detail. Certainly they're much better than the miniatures used in Last Night on Earth, and Zombies!!! Yet, at the same time, painting these miniatures will not be too difficult for the newbie painter. Since most of the miniatures *are* zombies, paint jobs, especially the skin, need not be perfect. More experienced painters can experiment with different primers, washes, etc. The Cool Mini or Not forums site has a subforum for Zombicide players, including tutorials for painting Zombicide. For those familiar with miniatures, even just grey primer followed by a brown wash of craft paint will bring out the details of these miniatures quite quickly. (I suspect even brushing some brown craft paint thinned with water should work.) For the survivors, however, I would recommend learning some painting techniques. Reaper's Learn to Paint Kit 2: Beginning Skin and Cloth is an excellent way to learn painting skills, and comes with a set of high-quality hobby paints. The miniatures are shipped in vacuum-formed plastic trays to protect them from being bent in shipping. The trays also are excellent for storage. For pictures and more details, as well as free Zombicide downloads, see the Guillotine Games website.

As said, these are 28mm figures.
