5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, September 15, 1999
By A Customer
If this were a prefect world, the shlubs of 98 degrees, backstreet boys, and all those other "pop" groups would be slaving away at mcdonalds, while this album would be at Number 1 on the Billboard charts.

"Guilt" is an amazing pop record. Shades of the Beatles, Kinks, Soft Boys, and the Beach Boys can be heard, but the result is utterly 90's. The four-peice band is augmented by some strings and horns on a couple songs, filling out the sound wonderfully.

Hopefully this will get the attention it deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars CMJ says it best..., March 29, 2004
By A Customer
KNOBS: Guilt
Three years ago, when we first wrote about the Knobs and tapped them as an A&R Pick, we knew they were onto something -- a warm, classic pop sound that invoked great bands like Big Star, but displayed a range well beyond any obvious influences. The Delaware group's second effort, Guilt, leads off with "Pour It On," which flirts with glam during its winning chorus. Lesser outfits would mine the same formula, but the Knobs mix it up over a dozen tracks, occasionally borrowing from roots rock, but at other times pumping up the sound with horns and strings, such as on the sunny "We've Got It All." The fine songwriting and tight harmonies manage to avoid preciousness thanks to songs such as "Have Mercy Tonight," which remembers to rock as often as it pops.

4.0 out of 5 stars For those who enjoy panning for gold..., July 20, 2002
By Underclaw "druidjr" (Cape Cod, MA United States) - See all my reviews
When you hear the Knobs, odds are it is a friend or some trusted/respected source that has mined the indie landscape to unearth that great song you hear on a compilation. It was thus for me. Now I'm the one who has the Knobs on my compilation CD and always get asked about the band. I guess that's why I posted this review, on the odd chance that someone else came across a song and checked here for Knobs CD. Its well worth having. Great to play in its own right, and fits in very well on a CD with Pernice Brothers, Velvet Crush, or The Sneetches.

5.0 out of 5 stars This cd should be in every true pop fan's collection.
This album is a perfect cohesion of beach boys meets garage band pop. From the first song "Pour It On", it's obvious that this ain't no pretty boy band. Read more
