5.0 out of 5 stars The best book in the world!!!!!!! 5/9/1999!
This book is very interesting. I just got it today from amazon.com. Have you read the part about the youngest married couple or the longest fingernails or even the biggest tumor?! I reccomend this book to anyone who is looking for something to read that is exciting and facinating.!

2.0 out of 5 stars Buy the Hardcover version
This book needs no introduction. Be warned though that the mass-market paperback version is simply appalling - the book is small, and the tiny text is printed on thin, low quality paper - making it impossible to sit back and enjoy. Unfortunately none of the other reviews mentioned this before I ordered it.

5 stars for the hardcover edition - but stay away from this...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for young children, April 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Guinness Book of World Records 1999 (Guinness World Records) (Mass Market Paperback)
Unfortunately, the published Guinness has gone the way of the Fox television show. Parents, be advised that many of the records and accompanying photographs are not suitable for children. A shame really, as this is a perennial kid's favourite.

3.0 out of 5 stars IT WAS POINTLESS, BUT INTERESTING, June 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Guinness Book of World Records 1999 (Guinness World Records) (Mass Market Paperback)
I think the book was pointless. It didn't teach us anything or give us anything to reflect on. The reason I did not give it one star was because it was not bad, it just wasn't particularly good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you Guinness Book of World Records 1999, April 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Guinness Book of World Records 1999 (Guinness World Records) (Mass Market Paperback)
I learned so much from The Guiness Book of World Records 1999. For instance I never knew that Dan Wagner, author of Getting To Howard: The Odyssey of an Obsessed Howard Stern Fan, is the King of All Stern Fans. Amazing! Educational, too. I immediately bought a copy of Getting To Howard on amazon.com and visited Wagner's web site which is the same as the title of his book. What an adventure. Thank you Guinness Book of World Records 1999. I also drink Guinness -- I'm on my third bottle right now. LOL!

There are so many amazing and goofy records in this book. You'll be suprised how wierd some of them are. But that's why the book is so interesting because of the wierd stuff. This book can be for entertainment or for learning. There is both. There is so much information in it, i doubt you'll ever read it all!!! GET THIS BOOK!

By A Customer
This review is from: The Guinness Book of World Records 1999 (Guinness World Records) (Mass Market Paperback)
Even though I'm only ten I can still say this book is incredible. I Would give it ten stars if that were possible but the highest limit was five. My favorite records were Computer/Video Games.

1.0 out of 5 stars How the mighty have fallen..., July 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Guinness Book of World Records 1999 (Guinness World Records) (Mass Market Paperback)
I hadn't looked at the Guiness Book of records for four or five years before I came across this latest edition, complete with "Amazing New Design" "Amazing New Records" and "More Celebrities Than Ever." The new Guiness Book's a far cry from the old one. Complete with some dodgy photographs obviously ripped from a website somewhere (check the pixelation on page 199 for a perfect example), the "Amazing New Design" is pretty substandard from this designer's perspective. The "Amazing New Records" are more subjective than ever - "Most secretive film script..." or "Most money lost due to computers..." - and sometimes just plain wrong (see Kevin Mitnick's "Most notorious hacker" record on page 178.) And thanks to the book, we now know that Elle McPherson's "The World's Tallest Supermodel," and that Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown somehow deserve a mention (and photo) for being a crap celebrity couple. The Guiness Book always had the potential to become (or in fact, remain) a testimony to human achievement and a valuable reference book. With this new edition (coupled with that godawful television show) it's become a misinformed coffee-table book for the lowest common denominator. Get yourself an earlier edition.
