Guinness World Records 2006,
By Joseph S. Maresca "Dr. Joseph S. Maresca CPA,... (Bronxville, New York USA) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

Virtually every type of oddity is described both pictorially and
in writing. Samples are as follows: - full body contact with ice for prolonged periods - the tallest living woman over 7 and 1/2 feet - the heaviest weight lifted by tongue - the longest neck over a foot and a quarter in length - the largest desert "Sahara" - the Nile river (largest) The pictures alone are worth the price of this book. It is fascinating for cultural enthusiasts everywhere.

Everything you ever wanted (and sometimes didn't want) to know,

For people that love trivia and facts, this book is for you. I can spend hours just going through and looking at all the stuff. The biggest cherry pie ever, the biggest tart ever, the tallest man, the heaviest babies, the longest hair, the fastest two-legged race, the biggest tumor, on and on, all kinds of fascinating stuff.
Well worth getting for anyone who likes this type of stuff.

No other records book comes close. My kids used to read themselves to sleep every night with this book and the new edition is better yet. It has plenty of photos and just an amazing listing of facts and records in every conceivable category. Great book to have lying around.

An essential reference tool.,

Whilst some readers will always buy the latest edition of this book because they are interested in the largest, tallest, fastest or whatever, personally I have always found this book to be a first class reference source.
It was from the Guinness Book of records that I learned that the largest Turtle known to man was a giant Leatherback Turtle which (to my great surprise) was washed up on the shores of Ireland - and "not" some Caribbean country as one might expect. Of course, not all the records are repeated from one edition into the next or each book would be identical except for any new records achieved during the past 12 months. For this reason, the reader might need to collect a few editions of the book in order to have as good a collection of records as possible. Just a few loose thoughts really. NM

I especially like the machinery and sports because it has a lot of information about breaking records. The only thing I don't like is there is only a little bit about each subject.
