If you are looking for ONE chord book and don't ever want to buy on again, then this is your book. The Guitar Chord Wheel Book is a most comprehensive chord book. 2.0 out of 5 stars Former player disappointed
I found this book to be not what I wanted at all. I like to be able to play a full chord with 4 or 5 strings so that I can pluck them or strum them, and this book repeatedly simplified complex chords into three strings, thus not getting the full harmony of the chord. I am picking up the guitar after 25 years, once being quite good on it, so I guess I have different...

If you are looking for ONE chord book and don't ever want to buy on again, then this is your book. The Guitar Chord Wheel Book is a most comprehensive chord book. Remember that chord you needed the other day? This book has it... several different choices of it! It also solves those difficult key changes with its 'chord wheel'. Beside each and every chord there is a 'chord wheel' that tells you the fret for the key you desire. This is especially handy for those who aren't studied in music theory. Also, it is in large print, is easy to understand, and easy to read! Enjoy it-- you will!

5.0 out of 5 stars Your chord book search is over, February 26, 2003

I purchased this book because i read some of the reviews on this book and decided to take a chance on it. I am jumping for joy, this book IS truly the best darn chord book on the market and I've seen many. I cant believe the way this book is laid out and I expected a skinny all purpose book, but I got a fairly thick book full of magnificent chord forms in an amazing array of fingerings. The guitarist who purchase this book will be so far ahead of most other guitarists who just cant seem to find the right book to work from, this book is great for pros and soon to be pros because what is in this book will create pros.

5.0 out of 5 stars STOP! THIS IS IT!, November 14, 2001

This review is from: The Guitar Chord Wheel Book: Over 22,000 Chords! (Paperback)
What can I say...this is the guitar book that I have been searching for! This book not only gives you options to finding just the right chord progressions, but it is easy to use! You don't have to be a music major to appreciate this book. You don't even have to be a "good" guitar player, because this book will strengthen your ability to play. This is the book that most guitar players look for, but never find...well...your search is over...this is it!I highly recommend this book! Buy it!

By the way, I am not the author, just a guitar player who needed a break!

The review under "former player disappointed" is invalidated by the fact that such "inexperienced" players as John Scofield and Freddie Green (both brilliant chordally) COMMONLY use 3 note voicings. I'm not quite sure what makes him think he's advanced based on this review, but if he doesn't understand the broad utility of spare voicings due to his desire to "strum," I must respectfully say he's lost as an advanced player.

2.0 out of 5 stars Former player disappointed, February 23, 2006
This review is from: The Guitar Chord Wheel Book: Over 22,000 Chords! (Paperback)
I found this book to be not what I wanted at all. I like to be able to play a full chord with 4 or 5 strings so that I can pluck them or strum them, and this book repeatedly simplified complex chords into three strings, thus not getting the full harmony of the chord. I am picking up the guitar after 25 years, once being quite good on it, so I guess I have different expectations. But showing three finger positions (on three strings) and then recommending going up the neck and count the number of frets (say the 9th or 10th) to play the E version of the original A flat version (not an exact example) of the chord just doesn't work for me. And the primary chord that it is based on if frequently a lesser played chord (like an E flat or an A flat). And some of the strings selected to play are very odd choices of strings, which makes it hard to pick or strum. I prefer building a chord from the basic chord version (say an E or a G) with finger changes from there. It helps me understand the difference, for example, between an A7 and an Amaj7. I guess I'd say this book doesn't help those of us who have a little music theory under our belts (and it doesn't take much).

I agree that this is one version of playing chords, but for me it lacks the fullness of the "real" chord. Ok for beginners, but more advanced players may find it frustrating.

Seems to provide all possible chords - but you need to find out for yourself which to pick. No "best practices". You need to look elsewhere for that.
